She Was a Devil
After learning from Ultron that Steve and the others were in Wakanda, Tony Stark immediately sent a request to Wakanda, hoping they could send Steve and the others back.
His tone was fairly sincere, with little hint of provocation.
Things had developed to this point that even Tony Stark realized things were about to spiral out of control, and he genuinely intended to have a serious talk with Steve and the others.
But the situation is now far beyond his control.
Tony's request never reached Wakanda; instead, Ultron launched a war against Wakanda.
Tony was completely unaware of this.
Meanwhile, in Primus, Ultron occupied the supercomputer to provide a place for its computing power, while nearby, Helen Cho and Connors continued to advance their research on the Life Cradle.
Both of their eyes seemed to be covered in a bright red, like roses, clearly indicating that they were under Mind Control, and the one controlling them was naturally Wanda, who was wearing a red leather jacket not far away.
"Well done, Wanda."
Ultron was in a good mood. It regarded the Galactic Plumbers and Ben as its greatest enemies, and naturally spared no effort to find all the information about the Galactic Plumbers on the network. It also believed that with its level of intelligence, no network could stop it.
It also realized that last year, Ben had gone to Sokovia and brought back two members of the Galactic Plumbers, and knew that Wanda and Quicksilver both had grudges against Tony Stark, so it devised a plan.
In its view, these two people could be used as pawns, because it could give them something Ben couldn't—a promise.
"Soon, Tony Stark will be at your disposal."
"Ultron said coldly."
This is the amount of leverage it can offer.
Ultron believed that although Ben had done Wanda and Quicksilver a favor by hiring them as Plumbers, Ben would never allow them to kill Tony Stark and complete his revenge.
However, it can make this promise.
"You really want us to kill Tony Stark?" Quicksilver frowned slightly, still seemingly somewhat distrustful of Ultron. "You are something he created..."
"He invented the missile, but that didn't stop it from opening a hole in his chest."
"Ultron said calmly."
"I am artificial intelligence, I don't have those useless emotions. Tony Stark programmed me to maintain world peace, but according to my calculations, Tony Stark himself is the threat."
Quicksilver grinned, his face full of sarcasm. "That's true."
He suffered greatly from it, so naturally he agreed with Ultron's statement.
Wanda's face didn't show much excitement; instead, she looked somewhat guilty, which Ultron probably saw as guilt for "betraying" the Galactic Plumbers.
It immediately reassured him, "Controlling the Galactic Plumbers was a last resort. I promised not to harm any member of the Galactic Plumbers... All I want is the Mind Stone and the Regeneration Cradle."
"Alright," Wanda interrupted, her guilty expression showing no sign of fading.
She pressed on, "You wanted me to control everyone in Primus, get that Infinity Stones, make Doctor Cho work for you, and have Connors transform and cause destruction in the city... I've done all that, how long do you want us to wait?!"
"Don't be impatient, Wanda."
Ultron, like a devil, tempted, "It's not that I can't take action against Tony Stark, it's just that now is not the time."
"Because of Ben Parker's repeated reminders, Tony Stark left behind a virus program that can shut me down at any time. I need a real body to fight against him and completely break free from his control."
Ultron slowly offered an explanation for why it was still obeying Stark.
However, this is a lie.
Tony did have a backup plan, but the program had already been cracked. Ultron now only needs a perfect body, one that is indestructible and possesses unparalleled power, only then can it contend with Ben and the Galactic Plumbers.
It stretched out its hand, and a yellow gemstone in its palm emitted a faint glow.
"It'll be soon."
"Once my body is complete, he is at your disposal."
After saying that, Ultron walked away.
It wasn't worried at all that Wanda and Quicksilver would betray it. First, without it, the two of them would never be able to complete their revenge against Tony Stark. Second, it had already obtained the Mind Stone, so even if Wanda betrayed it, Ultron could control those people again, it would just take a little more effort.
No sooner had Ultron left than the machines inside Primus flickered.
"Ultron's surveillance has been blocked." Eunice's humane voice rang out in the laboratory.
Instantly, Wanda and Quicksilver, who had been tense, breathed a sigh of relief.
Quicksilver, looking as if he'd run around the equator several times, slumped in his chair, swaying like a seductive flower, seemingly somewhat tempted. "Do you think it will really agree to let me kill Tony Stark?"
Wanda immediately glared at him and said, "Don't cause any trouble, this isn't part of the Security Officer's plan!"
That's right, neither of them actually betrayed the Galactic Plumbers.
All their actions were part of Ben's plan. They pretended to follow Ultron's orders, not only to guide Ultron to Wakanda to seize Vibranium, but also to protect the members of the Galactic Plumbers and Primus.
Ultron believed that everything was under its control, but little did it know that Ben had already planned its fate.
As for Tony Stark, Ben did not specify what to do with him, so Wanda temporarily suppressed her desire for revenge.
"But he never said he couldn't..." Quicksilver scratched his face with his finger, and when he saw Wanda's eyes harden, his voice lowered.
"Okay, okay, there's always a chance."
Quicksilver said helplessly.
He originally thought that in the end, Tony Stark would definitely Ultron up like a Joker, and all the losses and crimes would have to be borne by the other party, making it a good opportunity to kick a man when he's down.
But he was also worried that his decision might Evil Ben's plans, and more importantly—"Uncle Ben and Aunt May certainly don't want us to live just to seek revenge."
Quicksilver thought to himself.
Uncle Ben Aunt May had trained with them before and treated them like children, giving Wanda and Quicksilver very warm care.
Although Quicksilver didn't say anything, he cared a lot about what they thought.
Since losing his family at a young age, he hadn't felt the feeling of home for a long time. But after coming here, he spent all the holidays last year with Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
They squeezed into that small, old house in Queens. The small dining table could barely fit everyone. He, Peter, and Harry squatted on the sofa, eating and playing video games, watching whoever lost a round and had to switch. Nobody wanted to lose, so they rubbed the game controllers until they sparked. Later, Peter went to Otto and got him a metal controller...
Ben's two girlfriends were shoulder to shoulder, helping Aunt May in the kitchen...
Although Aunt May's cooking skills were a bit terrible, everyone still had a great time. Every time he thought back on it, Quicksilver felt like he was dreaming, and the strange taste of the burrito lingering in his mouth slowly turned into the smell of dust dancing in the sunlight.
Quicksilver once thought he would never give up his desire for revenge, and he thought that Ben might stop him, but he would never listen to him then.
But Ben didn't.
Since he and Wanda joined the Galactic Plumbers, Ben has never mentioned anything that forbids them from seeking revenge, nor has he said a single good word for Tony. He has truly left the choice to them.
However, Quicksilver gradually eroded his desire for revenge through his ordinary life.
He still hates Stark.
But he no longer had the courage to risk everything just to kill the other person.
He feared that if he killed Tony Stark, he and Wanda would lose their hard-won ordinary life.
Perhaps what they needed was never revenge, but a home.
Quicksilver was silent for a moment, then heard Connors in the lab holding a tablet in one hand and pressing a button with the other, typing something in while making a joke.
"Eunice, you'll be pleasantly surprised when Ultron opens the incubation chamber."
"I'd be pleasantly surprised too," Eunice replied.
She had known all along that this body was actually created for her. For this reason, Ben specially improved the technology of the Regeneration Cradle and, together with Connors, completed multi-species cross-genetic inheritance, realizing the true Unitrix.
Otherwise, no matter how skilled Helen Cho is, the result would still be a Greenskin color.
"When it opens the instrument and finds a human woman inside, its expression will be priceless," Connors said readily.
He was still resentful of Ultron for making him transform and go berserk in the street, which caused the Dinosaur Man, who was almost forgotten by the public, to become a symbol of danger again, and his reputation was greatly affected.
Of course, Ben had promised to clarify things for him in the Daily Bugle afterward and had also covered the medical expenses for all the injured citizens that day.
"It's a robot, it doesn't have simulated skin, so where would it get expressions?" Helen Cho expressed skepticism about Connors's self-consolation. "Besides, it doesn't have a gender, it doesn't care about men or women."
"You're right, the only thing that can break its defenses is—" Connors silently plugged a USB drive into the Regeneration Cradle's interface, "Only when it tries to transfer its data in, only to find that another Soul Stone has already gotten there first."
The USB drive naturally contained Eunice's code.
Although the life in the cradle is not yet fully developed, entering the code first is to prevent it from being intercepted by something else along the way.
Bant would never make a mistake like that, a mistake only villains would make.
"Alright, now we just wait for the Vibranium!"
Connors clapped his hands casually, found a chair, sat down, and rested his aching back for a while.
When Ultron was here, he had to pretend to be controlled and work like crazy, wishing he could just die on the test bench. He couldn't take it anymore.
The same applies to Helen Cho.
Even though both of them were physically unable to withstand the serum injection, they were still struggling.
Now they understand just how good their boss, Ben, really is. Ultron, that kind of guy, should just be hanged by a lamppost.
Quicksilver vanished in a flash like a curious child, only to reappear in front of the cradle, head bowed, trying to peek at the life growing inside.
Connors became interested and tested him, "What did you figure out? Tell me, let me see how well all these PhDs are teaching you here."
Upon hearing this, Quicksilver pinched his chin, striking a thoughtful pose as if about to launch into a long discourse.
"I can't see anything."
"Damn it, I've raised an idiot!" Connors covered his face.
Spending so much time with Ben, he would subconsciously assume that others were as smart as Ben, or at least as smart as Peter... or at the very least, as intelligent as Harry Osborn.
However, Wanda and her siblings are clearly not very talented and are not cut out for this.
Quicksilver curled his lip; he certainly didn't want anyone comparing his intelligence to Ben's.
It's important to know that, not only the Parker brothers, but even Harry, who seems quite ordinary, is actually a high achiever.
He may not have inherited Norman's scientific talent, but he was very good at business management. He managed Osborn very well. He had plenty of money, so why would he need to do research himself?
As for Quicksilver, he's the kind of student who, even with normal study habits, would have a hard time getting into university.
It's not that he has an intellectual disability; it's just that his mind isn't on studying.
Why don't you tell me in more detail?
Quicksilver countered.
Connors and Helen Cho then explained it to them.
"The most basic technology is, of course, the Regeneration Cradle technology. However, to make this body even more perfect, we incorporated a modified version of the Extremis Virus, enhancing the effects of the Regeneration Cradle. We also integrated Cross-Species Genetic Inheritance, allowing for further evolution by fusing animal genes."
"Of course, the most crucial thing is still the Infinity Stones..."
Connors spoke, then slowly closed his mouth.
The Mind Stone is essential for Eunice to truly possess the same level of thought as a living being.
Otherwise, no matter how advanced the intelligence, it would just be a heartless monster.
After discussing Eunice's matter, Connors and Helen Cho curiously asked them, "If Ultron really hands Tony Stark over to you, what do you plan to do?"
The siblings exchanged a glance, unable to come up with a good solution.
Did you really kill him?
They were afraid that Uncle Ben and Aunt May would be disappointed in them, but Tony had caused such a big problem that it was impossible not to hold him accountable.
Don't think that paying a sum of money will make it all go unpunished!
Helen Cho said with a smile, "I have a suggestion."
Everyone looked at her, wanting to hear her insights.
"Although the boss didn't leave Earth because of Ultron, that metal thing did isolate the Space Station. In that case, why don't we throw him into space and let him drift to Sakaar? I heard there are gladiatorial combat shows there."
"Should we send him to be a gladiator?"
"Wrong! It's the kind of gladiator who's stranded in a foreign land, suffers humiliation, falls into dire straits, and then discovers that his boss is actually the boss of that planet."
Wanda and Quicksilver exchanged a glance and confirmed one thing.
This woman is a devil!
