Background

Qing Huan was originally known as Zhou Yang. Upon Transformation, he manifested a Nine-Petal Dao Flower—an attainment associated with the Primordial Era's foremost Innate Deities and the qualification for Sagehood. He proclaimed his rebirth, attested to the Grand Unity Dao Fruit, and received the name Qing Huan from the Great Dao 5.

His original form was the Innate Four Symbols Banana Tree. The tree's accompanying formation concealed the Chaos Undying Spiritual Light, which Qing Huan used alongside his original form to refine the Seven Symbols Treasure Umbrella 6 7 57.

After leaving his birthplace, Qing Huan sought a proper Dao field, eventually establishing himself around Zhongnan Mountain and the Three Immortal Islands. He accepted Kong Xuan and Great Peng as his first disciples, then expanded his lineage with Gui Ling, Four Unlike, Wudang, Yuan Lian, and Yuan Yu 12 13 37 95 101 102.

Qing Huan later created and widely transmitted the Qing Yuan Immortal Method, a cultivation path based on the Twelve Meridians. The Heavenly Dao recognized it as a universally beneficial method and bestowed immense Merit upon him 226 227.

Appearance

Qing Huan is commonly depicted as a handsome Daoist in green robes, with a calm, profound bearing and eyes compared to the depths of the starry sky 141 187.

  • His presence can appear restrained and unhurried even in hostile situations.
  • At greater heights of cultivation, his gaze exerts overwhelming pressure on lesser beings 231.
  • His eyes are associated with Yin-Yang Dao Charm and the ability to perceive destiny, laws, and the origins of beings 217 226.

Personality

Qing Huan is calculating, ambitious, and highly pragmatic. He pursues treasures, Merit, Destiny, and powerful allies with clear long-term objectives, often viewing karmic connections through their potential benefit to his own Dao path 12 28 94.

He is not indiscriminately merciful. Qing Huan can be ruthless toward enemies, as shown by his treatment of East Prince, the Wood Spirit Daoists, the Bone Demon Venerable, and the remnant soul of Luohu 65 115 174 177. He is also willing to challenge established heavenly arrangements when they obstruct his ambitions 147 252.

Despite this pragmatism, he takes responsibility for those he accepts as his own. He protects and equips his disciples, aids the Phoenix and Qilin Clans, revitalizes the West with Three Lights Divine Water, and develops the Qing Yuan Immortal Method for the benefit of all living beings 67 88 101 106 226.
