Background / History
Luohu was originally the Demon God of Demons and master of the Law of Demons among the Chaos Demon Gods. He remembers being slain by Pangu during the Chaos era; Pangu's return later leaves him with an instinctive fear that he struggles to conceal behind defiance. 17 716 717
After taking form at Mount Sumeru, Luohu initially refused to admit Hong Yuan and Yang Mei into his protected domain. Hong Yuan broke the formation with ease, subdued Luohu with the Law of Strength and the World-Destroying Millstone, and warned him not to cause irreparable harm to the Primordial Wilderness. Luohu promised to limit his impact, then participated in a three-Yuan Hui Dao discussion with Hong Yuan and Yang Mei. 17 18 19
When he formally emerged into the Primordial Wilderness, Luohu renounced his prior identity as the Demon God of Demons and declared himself Daoist Luohu before the Great Dao. The declaration allowed him to integrate with the new world rather than remain an outsider rejected by it. 21
Luohu later acquired a Jade Plate of Creation fragment and received a second fragment from Hong Yuan. Combining them elevated the assembled piece to an Innate Supreme Treasure and clarified its manifestation of the Three Thousand Great Daos. 24 27 He also covertly prepared measures in the Western Earth Veins as insurance against his own death, despite his promise to Hong Yuan. 26
Appearance
After his form transformation, Luohu is most often associated with overwhelming black demonic energy and his Twelve-grade World-Destroying Black Lotus.
- Usually sits or advances atop the Twelve-grade World-Destroying Black Lotus. 17 21
- His killing intent can distort space, crack spiritual mountains, and manifest as a world-ending demonic storm. 146
- In battle, he wields the God-Slaying Spear and surrounds himself with dense, near-unresolvable demonic qi. 102 120
Personality
Luohu is proud, unruly, and intensely protective of his standing as Demon Ancestor. Even when frightened or outmatched, he habitually answers with sarcasm, denial, or open defiance; he refuses to admit fear of Pangu even after acknowledging that Pangu is stronger. 17 26 717
He is greedy for treasures, Heavenly Dao merit, and opportunities to advance the Demonic Path. His eagerness to obtain Grievance and Fiendish Energy drives him to cultivate conflict among the Primordial races, while his later heart-demon role appeals to his desire to punish and kill karmically burdened beings. 65 88 135 155
Despite his arrogance, Luohu is not recklessly inflexible. He withdraws when Shen Ni's intervention makes a battle strategically unprofitable, honors his promise not to devastate the Primordial Wilderness without cause, and repeatedly survives situations that overwhelm him through caution and quick retreat. 19 146 459
Abilities & Skills
Law of Demons
Luohu's primary path is the Law of Demons, which he uses to spread demonic qi, influence negative emotions, and establish the Demonic Path within the Great Desolation.
- Founded the Demon Sect, transforming his followers' auras into domineering demonic energy and receiving Heavenly Dao merit. 80
- Can preach the Demonic Law and reorganize cultivators' understanding of cultivation realms. 286
- His demonic Law and Law of Slaughter leave persistent imprints that continue consuming an enemy's strength until removed. 103
Heart Demon Tribulation
After returning the Jade Plate fragments to the Heavenly Dao, Luohu was tasked with becoming an outer-world heart demon and imposing tribulations upon beings with heavy karma. 135
- Searches the Great Desolation through its rules to identify suitable karmically burdened targets. 155
- Forces targets to confront their deepest fears and negative emotions; those who fail may become demonic entities. 155
- Receives a share of Heavenly Dao merit whenever the demonic domain deals with a being consumed by karma. 155
- Is explicitly restricted from indiscriminate slaughter; his tribulations may only target beings with heavy karma. 135
Killing Intent and Grievance Energy
Luohu draws power and purpose from slaughter, resentment, and fiendish energy.
- Used Grievance and Fiendish Energy to weaken Pangu's seal on the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation. 59 65
- Instigated the Dragon-Phoenix Great Tribulation to generate large-scale death and harvest the resulting energy. 65 88 109
- His killing intent alone can damage Mount Sumeru's surroundings and threaten cultivators far below his level. 146
Immortal Slaying Sword Formation
The Immortal Slaying Sword Formation is Luohu's defining killing formation and is exceptionally compatible with his nature as an embodiment of demonic energy. 59
- Initially sealed by Pangu; Luohu could not break the seal through brute force without risking death by backlash. 59
- Eventually refined the formation using accumulated Grievance and Fiendish Energy. 111
- Can trap opponents within a killing formation, though Yang Mei, Karma, Qian Kun, and Five Elements were able to enter and study it while resisting its pressure. 263
- Hongjun developed a specific method to break it, reducing Luohu's advantage during their conflict. 124
Jade Plate of Creation Fragments
Luohu used Jade Plate fragments to enhance his cultivation, perceive Dao principles, and conceal heavenly secrets.
- Two combined fragments became an Innate Supreme Treasure that displayed the Three Thousand Great Daos with far greater clarity. 27
- Used the fragments to conceal the early founding of the Demon Sect from other Great Desolation powers. 80
- Could not use them to deduce Hongjun's location when the conflict between their paths intensified. 76
- Had to return the fragments to the Heavenly Dao as repayment for the immense Karma attached to them. 131 135
Survival and Resurrection
Luohu's integration with the Great Desolation gives him unusual persistence.
- Hong Yuan's attacks can destroy his physical body without damaging his immortal true spirit or Primordial Spirit, allowing him to reform. 229
- After exploring another universe, he was killed by an unknown Primordial Grand Unity Golden Immortal; his prior integration of origin and spiritual light into the Great Desolation allowed Hong Yuan to restore him. 436
- His major killing treasures returned to the Great Desolation when he died and were reclaimed after his resurrection. 452

Story Role / Major Arcs
Establishment of the Demon Sect
Luohu founded the Demon Sect on Mount Sumeru, received Heavenly Dao merit, appointed Mo Luo and Mo Tian as protectors, and ordered his followers to spread demonic teachings and sow chaos among the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans. 80 81
Dragon-Phoenix Great Tribulation
Seeking Grievance and Fiendish Energy to break Pangu's seal, Luohu manipulated the three primordial clans into war. He personally arranged the confrontation that killed the Golden Phoenix, covertly influenced the deaths of other clan members, and used the Demonic Cult to deepen the Kala. 65 88 109
Hongjun exposed Luohu's involvement to Ancestral Dragon, Yuan Feng, and First Qilin, uniting the three clans against him. Luohu met the coalition at Mount Sumeru, fought through the ensuing Dao-Demon conflict, and continued pursuing Hongjun after the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation was broken. 113 118 124 125
Return of the Jade Plate and the Demonic Path
After reaching the Primordial Golden Immortal realm, Luohu discovered that the Jade Plate fragments had bound him in massive Karma to the Heavenly Dao. He returned the fragments and accepted Hong Yuan's task: establish a dojo in the Outer Heavens, become the Demonic Path of the Dao, and use heart-demon tribulations to eliminate heavily karmic beings. 131 135
Demon Realm and the Unknown Universe
Luohu left for the Outer Heavens to gather materials for a treasure upgrade, discovered a passage into another independent universe, and was immediately killed by an unknown cultivator of at least the Primordial Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm. The backlash annihilated the Demon Realm and its inhabitants before Hong Yuan stabilized the crisis and restored Luohu. 435 436
