Background and History

Fuxi and Nuwa become disciples of the Chaos Demon God Qian Kun because of their karmic connection to him. Fuxi insists on retaining his position as Nuwa's elder brother and becomes Qian Kun's first disciple, while Nuwa becomes the junior disciple. Qian Kun later gives Fuxi the Yin Yang Mirror and Yin Yang Two Forms Lamp, treasures suited to Fuxi's Way of Yin Yang. 181 405

During the early development of the Human Race, Fuxi remains with the newly created humans because his opportunity to become a Sage is tied to them. He gives the race limited guidance through its vulnerable beginnings and earns their trust as the Sage Emperor. 337

Fuxi later becomes entangled in the Human Race's conflict with the Demon Race. He initially confronts the East King Duke and Queen Mother of the West over their involvement, but agrees to cooperate after learning of their shared connection to a leaf from the Seven Star Universe Tree. 374 375 He challenges Di Jun directly, but Di Jun defeats him despite Fuxi's peak Primordial Golden Immortal cultivation. After reincarnating into the Human Race, Fuxi is born to Hua Xu Shi following a twelve-thousand-year pregnancy. His human head and snake body resemble Nuwa's, earning him immediate reverence within the Hua Xu Tribe. 444 He accepts Antarctic Immortal Elder as his teacher after recognizing that the elder can teach him the principles necessary to create a calendar for the Human Race. 445 446

On his way to study, Fuxi repeatedly encounters an old woman whose traps kill him nine times. He persists through each ordeal and eventually reaches Antarctic Immortal Elder's mountain. 447 448 After one Yuan Hui of instruction, he applies his learning to create the Human Race calendar, using the innate Eight Trigrams, celestial observation, turtle-shell star charts, and divination. 448 449

The calendar's success establishes Fuxi as a major figure among the Human Race. The Three Ancestors eventually recognize him as Human Emperor, while other races honor him as the Human Race's Heavenly Emperor because of the calendar's widespread benefit. 449 461

As Human Emperor, Fuxi establishes fixed marriage rites, the surname system, rules of family relationship, and arithmetic.
