Jieyin and Zhunti exchanged a glance, seeing the helplessness and bitterness in each other's eyes. They focused their minds, abandoning all unrealistic thoughts, and according to their plan, made a grand vow. Chants of Sanskrit echoed throughout the Primordial Desolation:
"If, upon attaining supreme Bodhi and enlightenment, my Buddha-land possesses immeasurable, inconceivable merits and splendors, with no hells, hungry ghosts, beasts, or crawling insects. All sentient beings, including those in the realm of Yama and the three evil paths, who are reborn in my land and receive my teachings, will all attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi and will never again fall into evil realms. Only then will I become a Buddha."
"If I do not attain this wish, I shall not achieve supreme enlightenment. Should I attain Buddhahood, and all sentient beings in the ten directions sincerely desire to be born in my land, even with just ten thoughts, if they are not born there, I shall not attain enlightenment. This excludes those who commit the five grave offenses and slander the Dharma. Should I attain Buddhahood, and all sentient beings in the ten directions cultivate Bodhi-mind and perform various merits, sincerely vowing to be born in my land."
"Wish for the wisdom of past lives. If, upon attaining Buddhahood, the heavenly beings and humans in my land do not know their past lives, even down to knowing events of hundreds of thousands of billions of kalpas, I shall not attain enlightenment."
"Wish for immeasurable light. If, upon attaining Buddhahood, my light is limited, not even illuminating hundreds of thousands of billions of Buddha-lands, I shall not attain enlightenment."
"Wish for reception at the end of life. If, upon attaining Buddhahood, all sentient beings in the ten directions cultivate Bodhi-mind and perform various merits, sincerely vowing to be born in my land, and at the end of their lives, if I do not appear before them surrounded by a multitude, I shall not attain enlightenment."
"Wish for attainment of the three stages of patience. If, upon attaining Buddhahood, the Bodhisattvas from other lands who hear my name do not immediately attain the first, second, or third stage of patience, and cannot attain non-retrogression in the Dharma of all Buddhas, I shall not attain enlightenment."
As each grand vow was made, the complexions of Jieyin and Zhunti grew increasingly grim. Their hearts pounded violently. The Heavenly Dao was too ruthless, forcing them to their deaths?
After a long time, the solemn oaths reverberated through the Primordial Desolation. The two sect masters consecutively made forty-eight grand vows, establishing the Western Sect and the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, intending to save all deluded beings.
Finally, as each grand vow was recognized by the Heavenly Dao, the Merit bestowed by the Heavenly Dao increased. Upon the completion of the forty-eight grand vows, the Merit they received finally satisfied the requirements for their enlightenment.
"Tsk tsk! These two sect masters have worked hard!"
Sensing two Saintly powers emanating towards Mount Kunlun, Li Yunjing revealed a hint of schadenfreude. The enlightenment of the two sect masters of the Western Sect was akin to someone without money wanting to buy a villa and taking out a loan from the Heavenly Dao. The interest on this loan was unimaginably vast. Even if eons passed, these two would never be able to repay it. In other words, they had thoroughly become wage slaves to the Heavenly Dao, with virtually no hope of transcending the Primordial Desolation.
Such Saints could not be judged as good or bad.
The benefits of becoming a Saint were naturally numerous: occupying a high position, overlooking the Primordial Desolation, and looking down upon the world. Even with the price of being completely controlled by the Heavenly Dao, 99.9% of beings in the Primordial Desolation would willingly pay it.
However, such matters held little interest for Li Yunjing.
If one is to be an immortal, one should be a carefree immortal. Becoming a Saint only to work for the Heavenly Dao to pay off a debt? Wasn't that like being a mortgage slave?
Thus, the six Saint positions under Dao Ancestor Hongjun were now complete, and the Primordial Desolation finally entered the era of Saints.
The enlightenment of the two from the West was a major event. Li Yunjing naturally needed to meet Sect Master Tongtian to request a spot to venture out.
Since Nuwa's enlightenment, Saints would explain their Great Dao upon achieving their status; this had become an unwritten convention. Although Li Yunjing appeared indifferent to the two Saints, Jieyin and Zhunti, he inwardly highly approved of their Western Great Dao. Given the opportunity, he naturally wanted to witness it.
"You brat, you've already learned some of the Great Dao of the Three Pure Ones and from Junior Sister Nuwa, and now you're setting your sights on Jieyin and Zhunti? Remember, it's better to have few but excellent things. Can you learn it all?"
In the Upper Pure Palace, Sect Master Tongtian, after hearing Li Yunjing's intentions, naturally saw through his thoughts.
"Teacher! I am merely curious about the method by which Saints Jieyin and Zhunti achieved enlightenment. I only wish to witness it," Li Yunjing said with a bow. Although Sect Master Tongtian had guessed his intentions, he couldn't admit it!
He was one of the Five True Disciples of the Jie Sect. Learning other people's Great Dao and cultivating silently was acceptable; Saints had broad minds and wouldn't mind. However, to widely publicize that a true disciple of the Jie Sect, who theoretically followed the Supreme Clarity Great Dao, was instead seeking out the Great Dao of others, would be a disgrace to Sect Master Tongtian and the Jie Sect's reputation.
"You sly fox! The journey to the West is long, and the Three Sects only sent Randeng to make the trip. Since you wish to see it, then go with Randeng!"
Sect Master Tongtian smiled. This disciple was extremely low-key, never competing or snatching, remaining inconspicuous within the Jie Sect. However, Sect Master Tongtian knew that this brat had a solid foundation and was a top-tier existence even among Grand Unity Golden Immortals. Even Quasi-Saints without any decent treasures were no match for Li Yunjing.
Since he had the aspiration for enlightenment, his master would naturally support him wholeheartedly. Sect Master Tongtian was also curious about how accomplished Li Yunjing would become after learning the Great Dao of six Saints!
Soon, Li Yunjing emerged from the Upper Pure Palace and went to the Jade Pure Palace to find Daoist Randeng. Upon hearing Li Yunjing's intentions, Randeng chuckled and brought him along.
Randeng did not dare to be careless with Li Yunjing. After all, within the Chan Sect, Primordial Heavenly Venerate had praised Chaos Child Li Yunjing's talent and character, which was an extremely rare occurrence. In the entire Jie Sect, he was the only one to receive such positive and public praise.
Being valued by a Saint, Randeng, a person skilled in maneuvering, naturally sought to win him over. With the Three Sects still united, Randeng needed to maintain his position as the Deputy Sect Master of the Chan Sect, requiring not only prestige within the sect but also sufficient influence outside.
And so, the two shuttled through the Primordial Desolation, and soon entered the Western lands. The moment they entered the West, they exchanged a look, their brows furrowed slightly.
The spiritual energy here was extremely thin, with most of the Innate Qi having been converted into Postnatal Spiritual Qi. It could be said that compared to Mount Kunlun, where they were from, it was like heaven and earth.
"It seems the two Saints, Jieyin and Zhunti, have had a difficult time these past years!"
This thought arose in Li Yunjing's mind. The fact that these two could cultivate to the peak of Quasi-Saint in such a desolate place demonstrated their extraordinary aptitude.
It seemed he had underestimated the two Saints earlier!
Soon, they located the direction of the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and flew towards it.
Upon arriving at the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, the two marveled at the greatness of Saints. They saw auspicious phenomena manifesting throughout the land, with mist swirling everywhere, exotic fragrances filling the air, and golden light spanning the heavens. Colorful clouds drifted by, and the dense spiritual energy permeated their beings, leaving Li Yunjing and Randeng deeply impressed.
