Background / History
Veigar was originally an ordinary twenty-first-century man named Vega, whose hobbies included games and anime. After being electrocuted while playing a game, he awakened in the body of six-year-old Vega Koshima, an undernourished orphan in Konohagakure. His father, Viking Koshima, died during the Second Great Ninja War, while his mother had died of illness three months earlier. 1
With little food or money, Veigar survived by fishing in the forest south of Konoha and received occasional support from his neighbor, Aunt Suzuran. He regained weight over the following month and was then ordered by an Anbu operative to take the Ninja Academy entrance examination. 1
While learning the Chakra Extraction Technique, Veigar awakened Superior Evil Power, a passive ability associated with the Evil Little Mage from his former life's game. After testing it on a salmon, he named the energy released by dying creatures the “Source of Life” and discovered that it could strengthen the density and quality of his Chakra. 3 4
Seeking greater quantities of Source of Life, Veigar worked at Saburoh Toyomi's slaughterhouse. He impressed the workers through his endurance and willingness to do difficult work, then began indirectly absorbing life essence from livestock. His first direct slaughter of a pig gave him a far greater increase than months of harvesting fish. 6 8
After completing his first Academy year with perfect scores, Veigar recovered his father's sealed keepsakes: a ninja sword, a training journal, the Body Strengthening Art, and the One-Sword Style: Iaido Slash. He treated the secret techniques as dangerous possessions and hid them when not training. 13
Veigar pursued early graduation, deliberately revealing enough ability to avoid appearing suspicious while continuing to conceal much of his strength. He passed after an assessment against Kakashi Hatake and entered Konoha's ranks as a Genin. 12 32 34
Appearance
Veigar initially inhabits the body of a severely malnourished six-year-old, with skin-and-bones arms, yellowed skin, and worn clothing. Years of physical training, Chakra enhancement, and Sage cultivation transform his body considerably. 1 257
- As a thirteen-year-old, he is described as over 1.7 meters tall and notably handsome. 257
- His normal combat attire includes a short sword at his waist or a ninja sword on his back. 179 236
- In Death God Mode, he wears Death God-like robes and manifests the Blade of the God of Death. 259
- Death God Mode gives him an icy, intimidating aura distinct from ordinary Sage Mode. 264
Personality
Veigar is intensely pragmatic and goal-oriented. From childhood, he treats survival, training, and the pursuit of power as connected necessities, repeatedly planning around limited resources and seeking methods that accelerate his growth. His ambition is explicit: he intends to stand at the pinnacle of the ninja world and surpass its limits. 1 4 13
He is cautious around authority and rarely gives unconditional loyalty. He joins Root while understanding its nature, later uses Orochimaru as a collaborator rather than a master, and resents Hiruzen and Danzō for using him as bait without his knowledge. 126 197 238
In battle, Veigar is cold, decisive, and often ruthless. He kills bandits, assassins, and enemy shinobi without hesitation when he judges it necessary, sometimes treating powerful enemies as tests for his abilities. 47 232 237 However, he is capable of loyalty and care toward people he respects, notably protecting Might Duy, supporting Might Guy, and taking responsibility for allies such as Rin Nohara and Sara. 240 246 298
Abilities & Skills
Superior Evil Power
A transmigrated passive ability that grows stronger through kills or assists. It converts the Source of Life released by slain living beings into permanent enhancements and ultimately becomes the foundation of Veigar's bloodline. 3 4 259
- Absorbs Source of Life from living beings killed by Veigar or through his assisted involvement. 3 8
- Permanently increases Chakra strength, density, and later Chakra quantity. 4 148
- Initially requires physical proximity to absorb Source of Life before it dissipates. 3 4
- Its fragments can be embedded in techniques or targets to steal energy and imprint abilities. 43 149 150
- Fully fused Superior Evil Power turns several former techniques into inherited bloodline abilities. 259
Chakra and Body Strengthening Art
Veigar's Chakra is unusually dense due to continual Source of Life absorption. The Body Strengthening Art uses this advantage to enhance his physical ability, Chakra control, reserves, and recovery. 6 13 38
- Penetration allows Chakra to permeate his flesh, improving control and self-recovery. 21
- Completing earlier stages greatly increases his appetite and causes rapid growth in Chakra reserves. 38
- He reaches Chakra quality ten times greater than before after killing multiple Jonin-level assassins. 233
- The technique appears capped at elevenfold physical amplification until the final Superior Evil Power fusion removes the bottleneck. 252 257 259
Rasengan and Evil Force Spiraling Sphere
Veigar learns and develops the Rasengan under Minato Namikaze. He later creates the Evil Force Spiraling Sphere by inserting a Superior Evil Power icon into the technique. 42 43
- The Evil Force Spiraling Sphere instantly plunders the Source of Life of targets it kills. 43
- He uses enlarged versions against Mukade, including the Great Ball and Super Wind Style variants. 148 149
- He combines Rasengan variants with Wind Style and Flying Thunder God positioning. 181 281
- Early on, he is proficient rather than fully masterful with the technique. 48
Shadow Clone Techniques
Veigar uses Shadow Clones as training partners, combat decoys, and force multipliers. 69 82 233
- Uses clones to engage multiple opponents while isolating a primary target. 69
- Performs Multiple Shadow Clone Technique during the battle against Mukade. 148
- Coordinates clones for Wind Style: Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique. 89 150
- Uses clones to train Chakra control and swordsmanship. 233 234
Flying Thunder God Technique
A space-time ninjutsu acquired through Orochimaru and mastered by integrating its formula with a Superior Evil Power fragment. 165 179
- Teleports to marked weapons and techniques in battle. 181 186
- Enables ambushes, evasions, and rapid executions against stronger opponents. 188 232
- Combines effectively with marked shuriken, swords, and Wind Style attacks. 186 275
- Requires precise Chakra control; Veigar specifically trains to reduce its Chakra waste. 233
Swordsmanship
Veigar inherits his father's ninja sword and learns One-Sword Style: Iaido Slash from the Koshima family scroll. 13
- Uses Iaido Slash to counter Kisame Hoshigaki and fight Jonin-level opponents. 69 180
- Develops techniques including Sparrow Flash, Instantaneous Iaido Slash, Wind Cut, and Phantom Dance. 159 232 293
- His swordsmanship, Chakra control, and clone use lead Hiruzen to view him as a potential sword master. 233 234
- Later wields the Blade of the God of Death, which can kill and seal souls while absorbing Source of Life. 259 272
Sage Mode and Death God Mode
Veigar trains at Mount Myōboku under Sages Fukasaku and Shima. His first attempts are disrupted when a Superior Evil Power fragment absorbs incoming Sage Chakra. 252 254
- Achieves Perfect Sage Mode after five months of training. 255
- Learns to absorb natural energy without toad oil and can maintain Sage Mode reliably. 256 257
- Uses Sage Art: Spiral Heavenly Reversion as a powerful defensive technique. 83 282
- Death God Mode is created when the final fragment fuses Sage Mode with multiple techniques and Veigar's soul. 259
- In Death God Mode, he can perform Sage Art: Art of Super Regeneration to heal others. 264
Sealing, Soul, and Regeneration Techniques
Veigar develops a collection of soul- and life-related techniques as part of his final fusion plan. 257 259
- Uses the Art of Super Regeneration to repair severe injuries and treat Might Duy. 150 246
- Purifies Danzō's Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal with Dragon Vein energy. 150
- Learns the Spirit Transformation Technique for soul projection. 257
- Uses the Reaper Death Seal in his final fusion, preventing the Shinigami from taking his soul. 258 259
- Seals Samehada's soul into his own and merges it into the Blade of the God of Death. 259
Eight Gates Formation
Veigar trains the Eight Gates alongside Sage Mode to push his physical abilities past their limits. 257
- Can open the seventh gate while in Sage Mode and sustain it for one hour. 257
- Uses the fourth through sixth gates against A of Kumogakure. 281
- The sudden power increase can exceed his control, leaving him vulnerable to stronger taijutsu specialists. 281
- Sage Mode reduces the physical damage caused by opening the seventh gate. 257
