Enticement

Under normal circumstances, one would have to control Henry Brown's children, parents, and at the very least his wife, in order to barely gain his trust in his loyalty.

But this guy seems to have appeared out of nowhere; he has no family. The only person he can control is his girlfriend...? No matter how I think about it, it doesn't feel safe.

To make a fuss about a "Tinkerer's" identity? At a certain level, the stain left by Tinkerer is nothing. Even if it's a handle in a murder case, it's not a big deal, unless the deceased was someone extraordinary.

The case that once presented him with the best opportunity to be brought down was that of California State Representative Mike Liddell Halton.

But after the FBI ran into a wall with him, they hastily closed the case by finding a scapegoat to appease the media and the public. Now it's difficult to overturn the verdict.

Just like the Sony explosion case, the FBI proactively closed the case, cutting off the chain of evidence. If they wanted to overturn the case, the entire staff of the Los Angeles office would be charged with dereliction of duty, and nobody would want that.

Is encountering the slippery Henry Brown really a problem for Gitano Dragonetti, who is known for his cunning and long life?

Although he wouldn't give his trust for no reason, nor could he obtain any reassuring guarantees, Spider doesn't aim to completely ensnare its prey every time it weaves its web.

Once the prey gets stuck to one leg, it will lose another leg in the struggle; one hand, then two. Eventually, its entire body will be stuck to the web. The clever Spider even knows to wrap itself in several layers of web to preserve its prey, ready to devour it at any time.

Moreover, given the resources his clan had accumulated over the long years, wouldn't he have the capital to take a gamble?

His stingy, Jewish-like attitude—expecting to get back two cents for every penny invested—is nothing like the style of an immortal being.

The ability to take risks, and the capacity to eliminate swindlers and confiscate their entire fortune, are the reasons why Vampires are able to accumulate wealth.

Therefore, Gitano Dragonetti showed no disappointment at not receiving security. He maintained his confident expression, smiling as he changed the subject:

"Perhaps my asking about your girl has given you some negative thoughts. But cooperation is about mutual benefit, isn't it? How could I do something that goes against my interests?"

"I also have connections in Hollywood, so helping to promote your girl isn't a big problem. We've worked with many stars, and I'm sure you'll be surprised by the names I can name."

"That's what I wanted to say: we each get what we need. What If...? you yourself feel it's not worth investing too much in that girl, that's not a big problem."

"Here, if you see someone you like, you can take them home directly. It doesn't matter if they're male or female. Or if you want a particular celebrity, just say the word, and they'll appear where you want them tomorrow."

"Don't doubt our capabilities. What we can do is absolutely beyond your imagination. Even your current boss is like an ignorant, naive child in our eyes."

"Speak, tell us your wish. Although we can't be like the genie in the lamp, shouting 'Abracadabra' and making your wish come true instantly, there aren't many things we can't do."

Hearing such bold words, Henry thought seriously for a while before cautiously asking, "Do we have a mature, miniaturized, commercially viable nuclear fusion technology?" A solution to the energy dilemma?

"Hmm..." Gitano Dragonetti was speechless.

"So, a nuclear-powered submarine that can dive to a depth of at least 1,000 meters? I don't just want command; I want ownership. And I won't accept management." The Undersea Laboratory is now secured.

"Hmm..." Gitano Dragonetti was speechless. Although this request was much more practical than the previous one, was it something that most people could afford?

Dragonetti doesn't deny that some wealthy Vampires clans do possess submarines, but those are only commercial submarines or research submarines used for taking secret routes.

But nuclear submarines? That's not something you can just have and call a day. Regular inspections and maintenance, qualified operators, and the upkeep and replacement of spare parts—all these requirements mean that even the wealthiest Vampires clan wouldn't consider them essential.

Even if you solve a bunch of problems, smooth things over, and get your hands on such a powerful weapon, would you really give it to a Mutants?

Faced with two consecutive unanswered requests, Henry had no choice but to lower his standards again, saying, "Okay, What If...? that still doesn't work, then come back to Hollywood. Give my girl a leading role that can be in the top ten of the year's box office."

At this point, Gitano Dragonetti didn't even bother to speak.

Are leading roles in big-budget productions easy to land? And what about the top ten highest-grossing actresses of the year?

We'd have to find a fortune teller to ask which movies have that potential and predict their box office performance. But if that worked, Hollywood studios wouldn't be losing money.

Three strikes and you're out. After three requests went unanswered, Henry lost interest in making a fourth.

He said helplessly to the person opposite him, "Mr. Dragonetti, you don't expect me to make demands that I can do myself or get through to them, do you? If so, how are you going to demonstrate your indispensable importance?"

"Money, power, women—aren't these things attractive to you?"

Henry appeared indifferent, saying, "Well, of course it appeals to me. But it's not worth paying a special price for, because I have my own ways of getting it. Besides, I'm content with what I have; I don't have that many ambitions in life."

If he truly valued these three things, this book would have been renamed "The Kryptonian Business Empire: Iron Fist Domination" long ago. Today he'd beat up Bill Gates, tomorrow Warren Buffett; and whenever he felt like it, he'd wring them out like rags, squeezing out every last drop of profit.

Just as Gitano Dragonetti appeared troubled, while Henry seemed relaxed, one of his Vampires displayed abilities far beyond those of ordinary people.

With lightning speed, they fastened a Mutants- grade ability-suppressing collar around Henry's neck, activating it as well.

Henry wasn't unaware of the Vampires's actions, but he still put on the contraption, which had no effect on him, just to see what the situation was like. Was it the will of all Vampires, or the idea of a particular faction?

Sure enough, Gitano Dragonetti was more surprised by the situation than Henry, who was wearing a collar. But the displeasure on his face was fleeting.
