The Impatient Deadweight Teammate
If Henry hadn't had such keen senses, he might not have noticed that this middle-aged, polite Vampires, who was as refined as an aristocrat, could also have moments of emotional breakdown.
It seems the Vampires community isn't a monolithic entity, which is good news for Henry.
The guy who put the collar on himself was just like the perverted Vampires depicted in many movies and TV shows. He was a big man with a beard and messy hair, but he still wanted to get close to another man's ear and whisper sweet nothings like a lover.
But the whispered words that came out of his mouth were an outright threat. "Mutants, what right do you have to negotiate with us? You do as we say, is there any other problem?"
Ignoring the hot air and foul breath emanating from his ears, Henry ignored the threatening Vampires and instead addressed Gitano Dragonetti, who sat opposite him, asking:
"I originally thought that if you lived longer, even if you weren't particularly smart to begin with, the accumulated experience would make you more mature in your actions. But you still have this impulsiveness that makes you act like a street thug. Is that normal?"
As if to vent his dissatisfaction with his subordinates acting independently, Gitano Dragonetti echoed Henry's words, saying, "There are always some dogs that are difficult to train. If you're not careful, they'll break free of their leash and run off to bite people."
"What's the point of living a long life? There are far more people who don't want to be human, but only want to be dogs than you think. You say they can't learn? No, I think they're just willing to be dogs that bite anyone they see. The life of an animal is always easier than that of a human."
"Oh ho ho, this is quite an eye-opener." Henry, wearing Mutant Power-Suppression Collar, laughed.
The threatening Vampires was equally displeased and shoved Henry. The feigningly delicate Kryptonian pretended to be unable to resist, stumbled, and leaned against the armrest of his chair.
The Vampires approached Gitano Dragonetti and said, "Elder, I'm helping you. But you're siding with the Mutants, fighting against your own kind. Is that right?"
What did you do to help me?
"This Mutants isn't relying on his invulnerability to speak like that. Now his powers are suppressed, and the explosives on his collar can take his life at any moment," the Vampires demonstrated, showing the control switch in his hand.
In this situation, if we ask him to do something, would he dare disobey?
What are we supposed to do?
"It's simply about infiltrating Stark Group to help us control that company." The Vampires knew their ultimate goal perfectly well.
Gitano Dragonetti asked in surprise, "You know you need him to lie in wait, so how does he do that while wearing a collar?"
"It'll be easy to untie then."
"Even after you untied him, does he still listen to you?"
The Vampires turned his head and said viciously, "You dare disobey me? Believe me, I'll kill you!"
"Listen! How could I not listen? My reputation is like that of Jewish merchants all over the world—quality is guaranteed," Henry said earnestly. But as he spoke, even he couldn't hold back anymore and could only force a nasal laugh.
Anyone who saw this contemptuous attitude would know that this person was talking nonsense.
This naturally greatly displeased the Vampires. He grabbed Henry's collar, revealing a mouthful of yellow teeth. His canines were abnormally long.
It grew sharp and long. "Don't eat this sour radish, watch me suck your blood dry! So what if Mutants?"
"Bang!" A gunshot rang out, the bullet entering the back of the Vampires's head. The bullet created a cavity effect in his brain, leaving a large, bowl-sized wound when it exited through his forehead.
Sticky, foul-smelling blood and brains splattered all over Henry. What a pity about that Armani suit; he probably can't wear it anymore.
Pushing the Vampires who had collapsed on top of him away, Henry asked curiously, "Will these injuries be effective?"
Gitano Dragonetti, who had been holding the gun, handed it to his subordinate, wiping his hands with a silk handkerchief as he said, "You mean kill him? It won't do any good."
"He'll be back to normal in a little while, though he'll be very thirsty. He'll still feel pain; we have nervous systems too. This is just the right amount to discipline him."
The old Vampires avoided discussing his weaknesses. Henry didn't intend to press the matter; he simply watched the man lying on the ground, a large scar the size of a bowl on his forehead, shakily rise to his feet, occasionally tilting in strange directions as if losing his balance.
This kind of Vampires self-healing isn't something you get to see every day. Henry naturally took this opportunity to observe it carefully, especially the details that are usually invisible to the naked eye.
Even the brain matter that had been splattered out showed signs of repair and recovery. Henry couldn't help but say, "It seems his stupidity is innate."
"It's not like I'm constantly getting my brain knocked out and made stupid."
Ignoring the warning that "newly recovered Vampires are very thirsty," Henry casually sat back down in his original spot. Unsurprisingly, the Vampires, who had just begun to recover, lunged at Henry, as if trying to replenish his blood.
However, the old Vampires wouldn't allow someone he wanted to win over to fall into such a crisis. His subordinate brought out a large amount of fresh blood in a beer glass, which instantly attracted the attention of the Vampires desperately needed to replenish his blood.
As if unable to resist his instincts, he abandoned the living person before him and turned to lunge at the large glass of blood that had just been served.
He even knocked the cup to the ground because he couldn't control his movements. Like a dog, he lay on the ground, sucking up the blood that had been spilled everywhere.
Such an unseemly display naturally displeased Gitano Dragonetti even more. But instead of criticizing him, he fixed his eyes on Henry.
The man's reactions repeatedly surprised him. He wasn't like those worshippers who longed for a lifespan as long as Vampires's.
They also showed no respect for the power of Vampires.
The latter is understandable, though, as he belongs to a different group of the Gifted individuals. But why isn't he worried about the restraint device around his neck? Is it because he's extremely confident in his own worth, or is there another reason?
As for apologizing for his reckless subordinates and continuing to win them over, Gitano Dragonetti has lost interest in such thoughts.
With his experience, he certainly couldn't miss Henry's perfunctory attitude. The reason he tolerated his subordinate's interruptions was also to try and glean information about Henry's thoughts from another angle. The result, however, left him quite disappointed.
To give the man one last chance, Gitano Dragonetti pretended to ignore the restraint collar around his neck and said, "Mr. Brown, it's a little shameful to say that."
"But most of the newborn descendants are like this guy—impulsive, reckless, and acting without considering the consequences. You know, I can't always stop him just in time."
