Healing the First Embrace
A secret base established in the warehouse district, where Blade's mentor and weapons supplier, Abraham Whistler, who had lost a leg, was located.
She watched as her apprentice, whom she considered a son, brought back a stranger and then abruptly placed him on the workbench.
The old Vampires hunter asked, "What's going on with this guy?"
"This guy's worth a hundred thousand. Give him a vial of garlic extract, Whistler," Blade replied.
Abraham Whistler said incredulously, "This man is worth a hundred thousand? I don't believe it."
"The 100,000 fee includes money to save him, the location of your secret base, and treatment." The man in Black Super, only to be met with a gun and a Crossbow aimed at him.
Blade lowered his gun first and demanded, "How did you find this place? Did he have a tracking device on him?"
"I have my own methods." Too lazy to explain, the man in Black Super simply took off his backpack, unzipped it to show the person opposite him the cash inside, and then tossed the backpack over.
He grabbed the backpack by the Blade, glanced at its contents again, and, confirming there were no other strange items like bombs, asked, "One hundred thousand?"
"I don't mind you taking the count. It's just that the person I need, can he wait until you're done taking the count?" Black Super said.
Abraham Whistler, standing to the side holding Crossbow, shouted, "What's going on here? Who's this f***ing guy who's darker than a black guy? And why does he sound so weird?"
Because the voice from the Black Super is transmitted through a bone conduction Mike and a voice-changing speaker, the sound is like an electronic voice, without tone or emotion, which makes it particularly strange.
Blade didn't offer an explanation, partly because he didn't know either. So, he also wanted to know the answer to the same question.
Black Super could only say, "Obviously, I don't want people to know my true identity. Just know that I'm not Vampires. Besides, I have some disputes with Vampires to resolve."
"How are you going to prove it?" Whistler shouted, still unconvinced.
Left with no other choice, Black Super took off his left glove, revealing his slender hand. Then, using his gloved right hand, he took out the silver cone that had fallen from the Blade earlier and forcefully stabbed it into his left palm!
The silver cone, of course, couldn't penetrate the Kryptonian's skin, and its tip was squeezed and twisted, like a bullet hitting a steel plate.
He casually tossed the Black Super cone back and said, "Can Vampires do something like this?" before putting his gloves back on.
Abraham Whistler kept the Crossbow aimed, carefully picking up the silver spike to examine it. After confirming it was his work, not some fake that looked similar but was actually quite flimsy, he put the Crossbow down. "Are you Mutants?"
"I could be. But does it matter?"
Placing the Crossbow back on the table, Abraham Whistler said dismissively, "It's really not important."
In the Marvel Universe, Vampires are less vulnerable to damage from substances that are not their weak points, and they can heal quickly. For example, a regular bullet can enter Vampires's body, but it will be quickly expelled, and the wound will heal.
But to be able to damage a silver cone like this mysterious figure, yet have one's hand completely unharmed, is certainly not something Vampires could do.
Blade, standing to the side, emptied all the banknotes from his backpack; some were rolled up, others were bundled up like banknotes. The amount was quite considerable.
Abraham Whistler didn't insist any further. He rummaged through the first-aid kit next to him and found a syringe and a test tube filled with a thick, cloudy white liquid.
The strong garlic smell prevented Black Super from suspecting it might be male semen or something similar. His only thought was that it was simply garlic extract?
Before injecting a certain amount of garlic extract into the syringe, Abraham Whistler said to the Black Super, "Generally speaking, after being bitten by Vampires, you will be transformed within 24 hours."
"Injecting garlic extract might kill the Vampire Virus, but it could also only delay the transformation process. What If...? he does become Vampires, I'll still give him a quick death. Understand?"
"Wait a minute." Black Super paused the garlic injection. He first took an empty syringe from the first-aid kit, heated the needle with a lighter for a while, and then drew a vial of blood from the unconscious Jasper Baden.
His movements were so swift that when he stepped over from Abraham Whistler to take the garlic extract syringe, the elderly man with the tumor-like leg didn't stop him at all.
"Where should I inject it?" the Black Super asked.
"The neck. I recommend the opposite side from where you were bitten; that's the most effective spot."
As before, the needle was first sterilized by heating it over Black Super injected garlic extract into Jasper Baden's neck.
The injection was even more effective than Black Super had imagined, but the reaction was also more severe; the intense pain caused Jasper Baden, who was in a coma, to convulse violently.
Fortunately, Black Super's hand was steady enough, and he also managed to hold down Jasper Baden's body in time, preventing the needle from breaking off inside his neck. At the same time, Black Super used all his Super Senses to monitor the changes inside Jasper Baden's body.
After the injection, the antiviral effect of garlic extract not only acts on the Vampire Virus in the blood, but also kills infected cells such as mutated biconvex red blood cells and binucleated cells. This is also the source of the pain.
Fortunately, not all of Jasper Baden's cells had been transformed by the Vampire Virus, and even though some cells had died, they were still within the range of his body's recovery.
This explains why the Garlic Spirit would kill someone immediately after they were completely transformed into Vampires.
As for Abraham Whistler's claim that garlic extract may not necessarily cure the disease, it's because garlic extract flowing with the bloodstream may not be able to kill all the Vampire Virus and transformed cells in the body.
Because garlic extract may be depleted or filtered out by the kidneys before it kills all the Vampire Virus and transformed cells.
As long as there are any remaining Vampire Virus or transformed binuclear cells, they will continue to proliferate and infect other normal cells.
Ultimately, they will still be completely transformed into Vampires.
Therefore, garlic extract is not the best remedy.
However, during the observation, Black Super discovered something very unusual: the Vampire Virus was extremely stable.
Take the most common influenza virus as an example. After a large number of generations, variants will emerge. These variants usually bring different symptoms and have different infectivity.
This is why there is no specific cure for influenza, because the influenza virus mutates and evolves so rapidly, while the drugs available for treatment haven't kept pace.
However, the Vampire Virus does not exhibit such differentiation. All the offspring viruses that multiply are extremely similar to the parent virus, and it would not be an exaggeration to say that they are exactly the same.
