An Unexpected Name

The appearance of a name that caught his attention made it impossible for Henry not to investigate whether this George Stacy was the one he had imagined.

When Henry wanted to investigate someone, his first thought was to contact the Continental Hotel in New York. But he quickly suppressed the idea; the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles was so unethical that it was almost becoming a psychological trauma.

Organizations with shady backgrounds use very blatant methods to control people. Even if the two parties should have no connection and the person has no weaknesses that can be exploited, these organizations will artificially create difficulties for people, forcing them to come to them for help.

Now that they've already broken free from the jurisdiction of the Continental Hotel in Los Angeles, why go back to the Continental Hotel in New York? As long as it doesn't involve hotel business, doesn't compete with them, and they don't have any debts, they should be able to keep their distance.

Besides, she didn't intend to harm George Stacy; she just wanted to understand his background and experiences. It wouldn't be good if others misunderstood.

There are many self-righteous people in the world who think that by doing a little favor, others will owe them a huge debt of gratitude. John Garrett did just that, and Henry didn't even want to talk to him.

The same applies to Continental Hotel; they don't owe anyone here anything.

Google's search engine actually appeared in 1996, initially only on Stanford University's website. In 1997, the two founders, Riley Peggy and Sergey Bull, registered the domain name; and in 1998, Google was officially established.

However, Google search really took off after 2000. This year (99) is the beginning of the first dot-com bubble burst and the last glory before portal websites fade away.

The reason for emphasizing this point is not that Henry wants to speculate and make money. Just look at his experience at Stark Studios. He earned tens of millions a year, but the real bulk of his income came from Sony. The compensation for the corporate espionage case alone amounted to two hundred million, of which Henry pocketed sixty million.

To the truly big players, if you talk about how much money you can make in the stock market, they'll just chuckle and say, "That kind of money comes too slowly." They wouldn't even consider robbery or printing money.

Mentioning Google's current situation is simply to emphasize that the era in which using Google to investigate a person is more efficient than using a dedicated intelligence agency like the CIA has not yet arrived.

Moreover, before the rise of social media, the practice of blindly putting all one's information online was not mainstream. Especially among older generations with conservative views, it's not necessarily that they distrust the internet; they may simply not know how to use it.

But how could Henry, after so much planning online, have achieved nothing?

Henry could freely access virtually all government websites and internal networks without being detected. All cybersecurity technologies of the time were practically useless to Henry.

There were difficulties, though. First, there was no horizontal integration of data from different departments during that era. Everyone was managing their own data, and there wasn't even a standardized format. Second, early data might not have been digitized yet, so there were some missing records.

Another source of online intelligence is news media websites. However, in this era, print and television media still dominate, and the information on websites is limited.

Fortunately, Henry didn't need much detail; a basic background and personal information would suffice. Soon, George Stacy's resume appeared before him.

George Stacy, a native of Queens, New York, joined the U.S. Army after graduating from high school and served for three years. He was stationed overseas and distinguished himself during his military career.

He was registered for the OCS program, which is the sergeant-to-officer program. This means that if he continued to develop in the military, he would have a great future. However, he only has three years of military experience.

Next, his resume transitions to the police system, as George Stacy chose to retire from the military and return to his hometown of New York to become a police officer, starting from the lowest ranks.

He has steadily risen through the ranks to become the Chief Inspector of the Patrol Services Bureau, which is basically the end of his career. The next steps are the Police Station and Deputy Commissioner.

The Commissioner is appointed by the New York City, while the Deputy Commissioner is appointed by the Commissioner. Both positions are sworn-in civilian civil servants, not part of law enforcement operations, and serve five-year terms.

These are all political appointments, not based on seniority. If the mayor wanted, he could easily parachute in someone without a police background to lead the New York City Police Department.

But according to news articles Henry found, George Stacy is a strong candidate for the next New York City Police Department Commissioner.

Although he did not oversee a highly capable department like the Special Operations Bureau, or a department like the Detective Bureau that deals with serious crimes.

However, the Patrol Services Bureau is the largest department within the Police Station, responsible for directing the patrol duties of its uniformed officers. In terms of the number of officers, it is the most important department, bar none.

George Stacy's family situation: His wife Helen Stacy passed away about ten years ago, and he is now a widower with one daughter.

Daughter Gwen Stacy, 15, is a freshman in ninth grade at Standard High School in Queens, New York City. This high school is a competitor of Midtown High School, which is also located in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens.

My daughter has excellent grades, especially in science subjects, and received very good evaluations in both elementary and middle school. Unlike most children from single-parent families who become despondent after losing parental love, she is quite ambitious.

Based on this information, it seems unlikely that this family is simply a coincidence of people sharing the same name.

It's not that he has any designs on Gwen. Taking action now, while it might not result in the death penalty, would still mean at least three years in prison. As a law-abiding alien, Henry doesn't want to land himself in jail.

Incidentally, during the investigation, Henry also discovered Peter Parker on the Midtown High School student roster. He was also a ninth-grader, raised by his uncle Benjamin Parker and aunt May Parker.

Besides this unusually eye-catching name, another name on the Midtown High School student roster also caught Henry's attention.

Jessica Campbell Jones, suspected to be a future member of the Defenders, Luke Cage's wife, Jewel (Jessica Jones).

After seeing this name, Henry didn't want to investigate any further. All I can say is that New York in the Marvel Universe is truly terrifying; the day when a brick falling from the sky would hit nine out of ten people and they would be either superheroes or supervillains isn't far off.

Even if a person doesn't want to get involved in the vortex, simply standing on its edge will draw them in. This is a physical phenomenon, and can also be seen as a kind of inevitability of fate.

One day, Henry, who was walking Tiger in Central Park in New York, following behind Catherine Hepburn, saw a handsome, slightly disheveled Slavic man walking towards him. "Mr. Brown, do you remember me?"

Henry extended his hand to shake hands with the other man. "Mr. John Wick, you helped me a lot back in Los Angeles. How could I forget you?"

Then the Kryptonian thought to himself, "I was too hasty in saying I'd keep my distance from the Continental Hotel in New York. Sending this guy to me makes it hard to be firm and say I don't even want to give them this much face."

"Henry, who is this handsome young man?" Catherine Hepburn asked from the side.
