Cheat Materials
Taking on Magneto's task might seem reckless, but it was actually because Henry happened to have the necessary materials on hand, which would save him a lot of trouble.
Kree scientist Mar- Will's research archive contains all the research data on the Inhumans. The content also includes the historical background of this research data, which helps Henry better understand what the Inhumans in this universe are all about.
Why would a scientist specializing in physics, aerospace, or mechanical engineering possess biological research data related to Inhumans?
Henry speculated that the other party might have been tracking the energy source of the Tesseract and learned that the destination was Earth, specifically planet C53 on the Hala map. Therefore, before coming to Earth, they obtained all the information related to C53 from the Kree Empire's vast data pool.
The reason for this speculation is that, if Henry were in his shoes, he would do the same thing. Regardless of whether this information is useful or not, it's always good to be prepared.
What If...? I were to encounter Kree legacies on this planet, I could use this information to gain some understanding, instead of facing unknown Kree Empire technology in complete ignorance. How stupid would one have to be to be betrayed by their own people?
According to this document, the Inhumans originated more than 5,000 years ago when a rebellious faction within the Kree Empire, which refused to submit to the Supreme Intelligence, sought to create a super army of soldiers to defeat the Skrull Empire.
This rebel faction dispatched scientific teams to different planets to experiment on all kinds of extraterrestrial life forms, hoping to unleash their genetic potential and gain manpower. Ultimately, they only succeeded on Earth, failing everywhere else.
Henry speculated that the reason why only Earth could do it and not other places was because Earth had been an experimental site for the Celestials. They created a latent gene to expand human potential, namely the X-Gene.
However, the activation of the X-Gene has its uncertainties, so the Kree arrived later attempted to make this uncertainty controllable. The Kree did this by adding a gene lock, and the key triggering factor was the Terrigen Crystal.
Meanwhile, the Kree research also included enhancing the effects of X-Gene awakening, to the point that it even broke through species boundaries.
It's important to understand that even if Epsilon-class Mutants undergo strange transformations, they generally still maintain a human form. However, Inhumans can transform into dogs! Whether this was intentional or an oversimplified error is unclear.
Therefore, when Inhumans inhale the mist formed from the decomposition of Terrigen Crystal, they are enveloped in a stone armor, undergoing a protective metamorphosis until the transformation is complete and they emerge from their cocoons.
What If...? an ordinary human without the Kree Genetic Lock were to inhale Terrigen Mist, they would die. For awakened Mutants, Terrigen Mist is even more of a deadly poison, fatal upon contact.
The Kree Genetic Lock also has the effect of stabilizing the X-Gene, making it less likely for untransformed Inhumans to activate their X-Gene during puberty due to extreme emotions such as anger or impulsiveness, like Mutants do. However, they still have the opportunity to awaken it on their own.
Most importantly, the Kree Genetic Lock can be passed down through bloodlines without interruption, truly forming a population rather than a one-off product.
The above three points are the ways to distinguish Mutants from Inhumans. Furthermore, because Inhumans have blood ties, no Inhumans identifies themselves as Mutants.
However, this plan was discovered by the Kree Empire, and after evaluation by the Supreme Intelligence, it was decided to abandon it due to reasons such as "the quality is not easy to maintain and the cultivation time is too long".
Although they control when the Inhumans can transform, they cannot know in advance what abilities they will gain.
Only a small percentage of the transformed Inhumans possess combat-ready abilities; another portion can be used for combat or logistical support duties after training. However, a considerable proportion are useless, unusable abilities.
The yield rate is less than half; although the transformation of the Inhumans does not care about age and can be done during the embryonic stage, it still takes more than sixteen years for them to become soldiers and go to the battlefield, which is too long a training cycle.
While you can occasionally obtain hero units, such as Black Bolt and the Hive, who led the Inhumans in their rebellion against the Supreme Intelligence and was later Hive by their own people and humans, this plan is to create soldiers.
The emergence of heroes among soldiers who are essentially expendable resources poses a threat to the Kree, the dominant ethnic group in the Kree Empire. Given the vast resources invested and the meager returns, it's no Inhumans were abandoned by the Supreme Intelligence.
Henry's plan was to draw on the Kree's experience in creating the Inhumans to fulfill Magneto's demands.
Moreover, most Mutants awaken during puberty. This is not only because people in this age group are more emotionally unstable and prone to extreme emotions that trigger the X-Gene, but also because adolescents still have a certain degree of plasticity.
A malleable body helps Mutants quickly adapt to new abilities after awakening. However, after a certain age, the body has reached its final form or even begun to age, and the awakening of the X-Gene has a high probability of causing genetic collapse, ultimately leading to death.
In contrast, any Inhumans of any age can undergo the transformation by Terrigen Crystal and safely acquire new abilities.
Genetic collapse is something Henry wants to avoid. Otherwise, if a group of old people awaken as Mutants, they'll all die off soon after, which is clearly not the effect Magneto wants.
There are simpler ways to kill these old bastards than by turning them into Mutants.
In order to gain Magneto's cooperation in the research and to dispel their doubts, Henry prepared some necessary equipment and set up a temporary laboratory in the Brotherhood of Mutants' secret base.
The core component, of course, is the multifunctional electron microscope that Henry commissioned Magneto to manufacture, capable of performing detections including Spectrum, and with nanometer-level observation capabilities.
Then he brought a laptop and a projector, and connected them to his private server, which was still located on a satellite orbiting over California.
This is to facilitate access to the Inhumans ' data, and incidentally, to move the research here onto our own servers.
Furthermore, for certain large-scale calculations, we also need to rely on underwater Quantum Computer. The laptop I have is just a commercially available product, used as a terminal.
They also conveniently moved their research on synthesizing drugs for dementia from the Sheep Cave Valley Laboratory over. Since the entire Brotherhood of Mutants of Mutants was illiterate, they wouldn't understand what they were doing anyway; they could just make up a few things when asked.
Don't say the Kryptonian are too Blackheart or anything like that; it's just that Henry is too lazy to travel between two places, and splitting it into the first and second halves of the night is too troublesome. Besides, if he's in the same place, Henry can operate on two fronts simultaneously, which is much more efficient.
Doing these things on someone else's turf, of course, requires Magneto's consent.
Magneto, a researcher with an unorthodox background, was happy to see Henry take the matter seriously. One major reason he placed so much trust in Henry was that there was no conflict of interest between them.
As an alien even more reclusive than Mutants, Magneto didn't quite believe that Henry Brown would betray him to the authorities.
Although he appeared before them with a strange afro and braided beard, he could only fool some Mutants who didn't recognize him. Magneto and Mystique both knew his true identity; they simply tacitly chose not to publicize it.
