Background / History
Nijika enters the unfamiliar world alongside the other future Kessoku Band members after finishing her part-time job. She is among the first to explain the group’s situation and their newly acquired powers to Shiko. Her status window initially reveals unusually high Shine, while her ability lets her inspect detailed information about herself and others 5.
Before the group is formally established, Nijika recruits Hitori Goto as a temporary guitarist for Kessoku Band’s live performance. Although Hitori’s first appearance onstage goes poorly, Nijika treats her with patience and understanding rather than blame 3. At CiRCLE, she introduces herself to Marina as the drummer of the newly formed band, and Kessoku Band’s formation grants its members a system-driven boost 6.
Nijika becomes the group’s most consistent organizer during their survival journey. She guides exploration, makes decisions despite fear, and assumes the executive-chairman role during Shiko’s cannon project because Shiko admits she lacks leadership ability 6 11 12. When separated from the others with Ryo, she awakens Stardust and creates a path from their prison 13.
She later supports Shiko through periods of guilt, identity conflict, and difficulty accepting change. Nijika calls Shiko a “comrade,” invites her to join Kessoku Band practice as herself, and encourages her to become involved with the band rather than only observing it 20 22 32.
Nijika’s emotional stability falters after she confesses her love to Ryo and loses her abilities. Terrified of being left behind, she withdraws until Kita leads Kessoku Band in a performance that restores her power. Nijika then apologizes to the band and admits that her fear stems from losing Ryo again 97 99.
Her motivation for forming a band is tied to her late mother: she wants the band’s light to reach heaven. She also grew up largely relying on her sister Hoshika while their father was frequently away for work 92 96. Much later, Nijika identifies her deepest regret as being unable to see her mother and Marina one last time 156.
Personality
Nijika is energetic, considerate, and highly attentive to the emotional condition of her bandmates. She regularly redirects tense conversations, checks on injured or anxious companions, and takes responsibility for practical group decisions 5 11 18.
As captain, she balances encouragement with firmness. She can be visibly frightened in dangerous situations, yet still chooses to continue forward and gives the group direction. She is also willing to oppose reckless plans, particularly Shiko’s cannon proposal, before ultimately helping make the project as safe and workable as possible 11 12.
Her warmth does not prevent moments of vulnerability. Nijika fears abandonment, is deeply affected by Marina and Niiki’s fate, and struggles with the prospect of losing Ryo. Rather than remaining detached, she eventually voices her fears and seeks support from Kessoku Band 98 99 114 115.
