History

The Primordial World is an ancient cultivation world whose heaven and earth were opened after the Primordial Chaos. Within its cosmology, Hongjun found the Jade Disk of Creation, comprehended the Three Thousand Great Daos, and merged with the Heavenly Dao to produce the existing Primordial World universe 151. It is not a singular or isolated creation: it belongs to a larger Great Dao domain containing innumerable worlds, each subject to recurring Great Dao tribulations that can reduce worlds back to Chaos 171 283.

At the beginning of the Investiture of the Gods era, the world is divided among major Saint-led sects and populated by cultivators, demons, humans, and other races. The Human Race is identified as the world’s present and future protagonist, an arrangement of the Great Dao rather than the Heavenly Dao 154 187.

The world’s internal balance is destabilized when Houtu elevates the Earthly Dao. The Earthly Dao rises to a level capable of contending with the Heavenly Dao, causing the land itself to convulse and provoking the Heavenly Dao’s hostility 31. The Heavenly Dao later imposes restrictions around the mortal realm, ostensibly protecting it while confining it within Southern Jambudvipa 172.

Hongjun’s mass distribution of Saint Fruits creates a long-term resource crisis. A Saint’s needs vastly exceed those of ordinary beings, and the Primordial World cannot indefinitely sustain an unchecked increase in Saints and cultivators 193. By the time foreign forces begin operating through Guixu, the world is approaching collapse from depleted Spiritual Qi and resources 234 235.

Tongtian chooses to preserve rather than rewind the world’s history, establishing the Primordial Infinite Spirit Vein with energy drawn from the Infinite World. This extends the Primordial World’s safety by one hundred thousand years, while Guixu is permanently sealed and disappears as an accessible passage 244 245. A later nameless great formation suppresses the cultivation of living beings across the world, reducing resource strain and securing a longer period of stability 260 261 270.

The Primordial World ultimately merges with the Infinite World. Both worlds’ Great Daos resist the union, but the Primordial World’s Heavenly Dao intervenes because its own survival depends on the merger; Tongtian defeats the opposing Great Dao forces and completes the union 312. From that point, the two former worlds are collectively named the Infinite Primordial World 312.

Ten thousand years later, this merged realm is known as the Supreme Primordial World. It has expanded to encompass three thousand Great Dao domains, though its isolation from external Spiritual Qi causes severe depletion and contributes to a mass exodus of cultivators 351.

Threats to the World

Resource Depletion

The world’s finite resources cannot support unlimited high-level cultivators. Hongjun’s bestowal of Saint Fruits allows many beings to reach Saint-level power, increasing pressure on the world’s Origin Power and Spiritual Qi 185 193.

• The original collapse crisis is attributed to depleted resources and excessive cultivation demand 234 235.
• The Infinite Spirit Vein temporarily extends the world’s life by one hundred thousand years 245.

Foreign Realm Infiltration

Foreign realms seek to control the Great Dao domain by controlling the Primordial World itself 234.

• Dark World invaders originate from a mirrored counterpart to the Bright World and exploit spacetime rifts to enter and potentially replace native beings 326 420 423.

Great Dao Tribulation

The Great Dao periodically destroys chaotic worlds and returns them to primordial Chaos before new heavens and earth are created 283. Tongtian’s Stealing Heaven and Changing the Sun scheme seeks to preserve the true Primordial World by presenting a fabricated world to the Great Dao as the tribulation’s target 283 296.

Spacetime Disorder

After the realm’s expansion, increasing spacetime rifts bring creatures, cultivators, and remnants from other eras into the Supreme Primordial World 376 377. Tongtian eventually removes the redundant cities and mountains created by this disorder, returning the Infinite Primordial World to its normal trajectory 468.

Political and Sectarian Role

The Primordial World is the center of conflict among the Intercepting Sect, Human Sect, Heavenly Origin Sect, Western Teachings, Heavenly Court, Human Dao, Congruent Dao, and external factions.

• The Investiture of the Gods is intended to fill heavenly offices and establish a Heavenly Court capable of controlling the Three Realms 159.
• The Intercepting Sect, Human Sect, and Heavenly Origin Sect later form an alliance to explore and manage the world’s Great Dao domain 289.
• In response to external threats, the Intercepting Sect establishes the Infinite Tower, while other major factions create their own defensive organizations 270.
• Following the merger with the Infinite World, the world becomes a central axis in a symmetrical “mirror world” structure within the Primordial Tribulation Realm 647.
