Background / History

Luo Xuan is an Innate Human Race member of Shouyang Mountain. He initially refined nine First-turn Qi Vitality Pills and drew Heavenly Dao Merit, an achievement that attracted the attention of the Three Ancestors, the Three Pure Ones, and the Two Sages of the West 2 3. His alchemy was distinguished by its natural Daoist charm despite his low origin as a human 6.

The Chaos Alchemy System granted him the Primordial Pill Canon, Five Directions Cauldron, and Skyfall True Flame. After studying the canon, he began cultivating the Primordial Pill Body by tempering himself within the cauldron rather than treating it solely as an alchemy vessel 5.

Luo Xuan refused Jieyin and Zhunti's attempt to take him west. Laozi instead accepted him as a disciple and gave him a jade slip that could summon Laozi in a life-or-death crisis 9 10 11. Before departing for Kunlun, Luo Xuan chose to remain with the Human Race for a thousand years, refining pills and teaching alchemy because he considered Shouyang Mountain his root 11.

“I am of the Innate Human Race. No one can change that. My roots are here.” 11

Appearance

Luo Xuan is depicted as a young man, usually dressed in white or white Daoist robes. He has star-like eyes and a well-proportioned physique tempered through the Primordial Pill Body 24 33 123.

  • Often wears white robes, including Laozi's Plain Cloud Robe during his travels in the Outer Chaos 123.
  • Possesses a physique strong enough to contend physically with Witch Clan prodigies despite being human 36.
  • His eyes briefly carried arcs of electricity after he absorbed the Eight-Nine Lightning Tribulation 49.

Personality

Luo Xuan is calm under pressure and frequently conceals the extent of his strength. Even when threatened by stronger enemies, he responds with composure and searches for a practical solution rather than panicking 25 85.

He is deeply attached to the Human Race and consistently treats their survival as a personal responsibility. He remained at Shouyang Mountain to teach alchemy, corrected flaws in their Golden Elixir cultivation method, passed on body-tempering techniques, and used the Hongmeng Measuring Heaven Ruler to shield them during his tribulation 11 38 46.

Although often courteous, Luo Xuan can be deliberately provocative toward arrogant opponents. He humiliated Duobao, Nanji Xianweng, and dozens of sect disciples after they harmed Xuan Du, while privately framing the episode as an attempt to reduce sectarian conflict 81 82.

His later actions show a broad sense of responsibility: he seeks to prevent the Witch-Demon calamity, shares his method of cultivating with Chaos Power, and prepares the Primordial World for threats beyond the Chaos 93 139 148.

Abilities & Skills

Pill Dao and Alchemy

Luo Xuan is an exceptional alchemist whose creations repeatedly attract Heavenly Dao Merit. His understanding of the Pill Dao eventually surpasses Laozi's in certain respects 2 73.

  • Refined First-turn Qi Vitality Pills capable of increasing cultivation 3.
  • Refined the Thunderfall Elixir, a Three-Revolutions Golden Elixir marked by lightning-like Dao patterns and capable of granting lightning comprehension 8.
  • Refined Seventh-grade, Eight-Revolutions, and Nine-Revolutions elixirs, including Supreme Grade Nine Revolutions Body Tempering Pills 54 77 141.
  • Refined the Mythical Golden Elixir, drawing immense Merit comparable to his prior Merit manifestations combined 92.
  • Refined Fierce Beast pills using Chaos Qi and Fierce Beast corpses; Nuwa later helped him correct flaws in this method through the Way of Creation 90.
  • Refined the Chaos Origin Nurturing Pill in an attempt to nurture the Primordial World 98.
  • Can refine pills without an alchemy furnace after attaining Sainthood 150.

Primordial Pill Body

The Primordial Pill Body is Luo Xuan's core cultivation method. It tempers flesh, meridians, bones, primordial spirit, essence, and immortal power individually before merging them into a unified whole 11.

  • Uses the Five Directions Cauldron and Skyfall True Flame to purge impurities and temper his body 5.
  • Integrates Immortal Power, Nascent Soul, and other internal strengths into his body to release extraordinary physical force 36.
  • Grants rapid recovery; his body could recover immediately after being dented by Ao Gu's full-force blows 36.
  • Lets him use Lightning Tribulation as a natural cauldron and absorb its power as lightning-fire energy 49.
  • Automatically converts absorbed Primordial Spiritual Power into Chaos Qi after his internal power source changed to Chaos Qi 135.
  • Allows him to endure Chaos Power and recover from severe injuries within the Outer Chaos 145.

Great Dao Laws

Luo Xuan cultivates multiple Great Dao Laws through inner elixirs, an unconventional path that gives him powerful combinations but complicates future breakthroughs 75.

  • Initially mastered Karma, Time, Space, Soul, and Flame Laws before reaching the Quasi-Saint realm 75.
  • Later possessed five Golden Elixirs aligned with Space, Time, Strength, Fire, and Creation 149.
  • Karma Law — Makes opponents and their Spiritual Treasures unable to evade or resist his lightning techniques normally 82.
  • Law of Time — Can break powerful formations, but severely drains his Immortal Power at Quasi-Saint level 119.
  • Law of Space — Enables rapid movement and escape, including evading spatial distortion in the Chaos 150.
  • Way of Creation — Learned from Nuwa; its completion enabled his ascension to Sainthood 91 150.

Lightning Techniques

After surviving the Eight-Nine Lightning Tribulation, Luo Xuan incorporated its lightning laws into himself. Laozi subsequently bestowed Taiqing Divine Lightning to help him control that power 49 50.

  • Uses Taiqing Divine Thunder to defeat cultivators whose defensive Spiritual Treasures fail under the Karma Law 82.
  • Can physically disperse dragon-shaped tribulation lightning with a punch 43.
  • Retains lightning power within his body after absorbing the tribulation 49.

Combat and Physical Strength

Luo Xuan's combat ability exceeds his apparent cultivation and is heavily based on his physical body, Great Dao Laws, and alchemical resources.

  • Defeated the Witch Clan prodigy Ao Gu with one punch after enduring his full-power attacks 36.
  • Escaped a Quasi-Saint Kunpeng while still at Golden Immortal level 25 32.
  • Defeated roughly sixty disciples from the Heavenly Origin Sect and Intercepting Sect, including Duobao and Nanji Xianweng 81 82.
  • Resisted Eastern Emperor Taiyi's Chaos Bell without injury after refining the Tentacled Fierce Beast and gaining resistance to Great Dao power 132.
  • At a stable Quasi-Saint foundation, considered himself unrivaled among Quasi-Saints, though not equal to the Six Saints 136.

Chaos Cultivation

Luo Xuan can absorb and cultivate Chaos Power, an ability considered impossible or fatal to ordinary Primordial World cultivators 148.

  • Uses his inner pill to purify Chaos Qi by expelling mixed energies from his pores 123.
  • Shared the method with the Human Race, Witch Clan, Demon Race, and other Primordial World factions 148.
  • Can remain in the depths of Chaos without being affected by its environment after becoming a Saint 150.

Chaos Grass and Wood Art

Luo Xuan learned the Chaos Grass and Wood Art, a technique for evolving Spiritual Roots 121.

  • Ten streams of Primordial Origin Qi can upgrade an Acquired Spiritual Root into an Innate Spiritual Root 121.
  • One hundred streams can upgrade an Innate Spiritual Root into a Chaos Spiritual Root 121.
  • He planned to use the Lingam Pillar to spread the Creation Method throughout the Primordial Era 121.
