Background / History

Di Jun and his brother Tai Yi appeared during the Primordial Era and founded the Demon Race, establishing the Heavenly Court as its center of power. As the race expanded, Di Jun became its Demon Emperor and oversaw Demon Gods, Demon Marshals, and the Demon Master Kunpeng. 17 19

When Gui Che reported that the Witch Clan's bodies had become abnormally powerful, Di Jun initially treated the report as an excuse for defeat. Bai Ze's testimony persuaded him to investigate with the River Diagram and Luo Script, confirming the change and learning that the Human Race had spent five hundred years refining elixirs for the Witch Clan. 19

Viewing the Human Race's elixirs as a direct threat to the Demon Race, Di Jun ordered their extermination. Bai Ze stopped the order by warning that humanity's karmic connection to Nuwa could provoke a conflict among the Demon Emperors. Di Jun instead mobilized the Demon Race against Shouyang Mountain, demanding that humans refine elixirs for demons or die. 20 22

The campaign ended in humiliation when Di Jiang and the Twelve Ancestor Witches protected the Human Race. Di Jun rescued Gui Che from Hou Yi, then fought Di Jiang personally; his True Sun Fire could not harm the Witch leader, whose late-stage Quasi-Saint strength forced Di Jun into retreat. 23

After repeated setbacks, Di Jun pursued methods to counter the Witch Clan. Kunpeng's discovery that Human Race spiritual essence could pierce Witch bodies led Di Jun to prepare another attack on Shouyang Mountain. He later committed much of the Demon Race's accumulated foundation to refining the Soul-Bewitching Lamp, intending to use it to turn Gonggong and Zhu Rong against one another. 37 96 100

The scheme failed when Luo Xuan exposed it and healed Gonggong. Di Jun responded to the Ancestor Witches' retaliatory assault by deploying the Primordial River-Luo Great Array and supporting the Star Dou Array. When the Heavenly Court was devastated, he attempted to unleash the array's full power against Pangu's true form, but Hongjun intervened. Di Jun was subsequently compelled to compensate the Witch Clan with half of the Heavenly Court's accumulated treasures. 105 106 107 108

Di Jun's hostility toward Luo Xuan continued during the Creation Method sermon at Shouyang Mountain. He attempted to dominate the gathering with Heavenly Court elites, allowed his demons to injure Suiren Shi, and challenged Luo Xuan alongside Tai Yi. Luo Xuan repelled them, while the sermon's descending merit greatly strengthened the Human Race and reduced the Heavenly Court's share of Primordial fortune. 129 130 131 132 133

Xihe eventually persuaded Di Jun that the Human Race could no longer be treated as blood food and that the Primordial World could not endure continued internal conflict. Though Tai Yi resisted withdrawal, Di Jun supported establishing a separate Demon Realm. The brothers ultimately created it together, relocating the Demon Race while increasing both the realm's power and the spiritual energy of the Primordial World. 135 137 138 139

When intelligent Chaos Fierce Beasts threatened the Primordial World, Di Jun and Tai Yi fought them in the Outer Chaos before Hongjun and the other powers arrived. Following the crisis, Di Jun accepted Luo Xuan's Great Returning Elixir and later volunteered Demon Race cultivators for an expedition beyond the Primordial World's surroundings. 143 147 148

Di Jun is an imperial figure associated with the Golden Crow lineage. He commonly appears in imperial robes and rules from a golden throne carved in the form of a three-legged Golden Crow. 18 37

Personality

Di Jun is ambitious, proud, and intensely conscious of the Heavenly Court's prestige. Defeats by the Witch Clan, interference by Luo Xuan, and losses to the Human Race consistently provoke anger because he sees them as challenges to Demon Race supremacy. He is willing to treat humans as resources and initially planned to exterminate them when their elixirs empowered his enemies. 20 24 46

Despite his temper, Di Jun is not incapable of restraint. He listens when Tai Yi and Bai Ze provide credible counsel, verifies important intelligence before acting, and abandons immediate retaliation when the risks of confronting Nuwa, the Three Pure Ones, or the Witch Clan are too great. 19 20 27

His distrust of Luo Xuan becomes a personal bias. He interprets Luo Xuan's warning to Xihe as manipulation, dismisses Luo Xuan's predictions despite evidence, and repeatedly reacts with frustration when Luo Xuan disrupts Demon Race plans. 71 73 105
