During Luo Xuan's extraordinary lightning tribulation, Hongjun investigates the human cultivator's history and becomes interested in his independent exploration of the Pill Dao, his Merit-gaining elixirs, and his body-refining method for the Human Race. Believing the Pill Dao may offer the Primordial Era a path to survival, Hongjun persuades the Heavenly Dao to spare Luo Xuan. 48

Hongjun personally ends a major clash between the Witch Clan and Demon Race by immobilizing the Chaos Bell, separating the two sides for ten thousand years, and taking Luo Xuan to Zixiao Palace. There, he questions Luo Xuan about restoring the Primordial Era's foundation, gives him a deadline to produce meaningful change, and provides the Universe Cauldron and materials needed for high-grade elixirs. 52 53

When the Star Dou Array threatens the Primordial Era during the later Witch-Demon conflict, Hongjun intervenes again and rebukes Di Jun for risking the world's destruction. During the Outer Chaos crisis, Hongjun rescues the unconscious Primordial cultivators from a colossal Chaos Fierce Beast. His attempt to deduce the figure standing atop the creature leaves him blind and severely injured, but he remains determined to retrieve the missing Luo Xuan and eventually rescues him from a high-gravity planet. 144 146

After recognizing Luo Xuan as the Primordial World's likely “Child of Destiny,” Hongjun verifies the Chaos Power cultivation method and entrusts the Primordial World to Luo Xuan before leaving to search for Yang Mei.
