| Eighth-level Saint | 148 | After verifying Luo Xuan's Chaos Power cultivation method, Hongjun cultivates with it himself and directly advances to the eighth level of Saint. 148 |
Background / History
After merging with the Heavenly Dao, Hongjun became bound by it and began observing the Primordial Era's long-term decline. He considers its apparent prosperity precarious: repeated calamities deplete its foundation, while its inhabitants prioritize individual cultivation over preserving their world. 48 53
During Luo Xuan's extraordinary lightning tribulation, Hongjun investigates the human cultivator's history and becomes interested in his independent exploration of the Pill Dao, his Merit-gaining elixirs, and his body-refining method for the Human Race. Believing the Pill Dao may offer the Primordial Era a path to survival, Hongjun persuades the Heavenly Dao to spare Luo Xuan. 48
Hongjun personally ends a major clash between the Witch Clan and Demon Race by immobilizing the Chaos Bell, separating the two sides for ten thousand years, and taking Luo Xuan to Zixiao Palace. There, he questions Luo Xuan about restoring the Primordial Era's foundation, gives him a deadline to produce meaningful change, and provides the Universe Cauldron and materials needed for high-grade elixirs. 52 53
When the Star Dou Array threatens the Primordial Era during the later Witch-Demon conflict, Hongjun intervenes again and rebukes Di Jun for risking the world's destruction. He permits the Ancestor Witches to claim compensation from the Heavenly Court, then confronts Luo Xuan over his deliberate role in weakening the Heavenly Court and escalating the war. 107 108
At Luo Xuan's recommendation, Hongjun summons the Six Saints to discuss the Primordial Era's Origin. Their subsequent creation of six star worlds increases the world's spiritual energy and steadily restores its Origin. 109 112
When Luo Xuan discovers Yang Mei's jade pendant in the Outer Chaos, Hongjun activates its Chaos Runes and identifies its owner. He concludes that Yang Mei found another world, but fears that the Primordial Era's location may have been exposed to powers from that world. 127 128
During the Outer Chaos crisis, Hongjun rescues the unconscious Primordial cultivators from a colossal Chaos Fierce Beast. His attempt to deduce the figure standing atop the creature leaves him blind and severely injured, but he remains determined to retrieve the missing Luo Xuan and eventually rescues him from a high-gravity planet. 144 146
After recognizing Luo Xuan as the Primordial World's likely “Child of Destiny,” Hongjun verifies the Chaos Power cultivation method and entrusts the Primordial World to Luo Xuan before leaving to search for Yang Mei. He later aids the Heavenly Human Race against the Cthulhu Race and reunites with Luo Xuan in Heavenly Human City after most of their expeditionary group is killed. 148 149 151 157
Appearance
Hongjun appears as an aged man in simple Taoist robes. Although he can seem as calm and approachable as an ordinary elder, his presence is described as inseparable from heaven and earth. 48 52
- Usually wears plain or loose Taoist robes. 48 146
- Sits upright on a cushion in Zixiao Palace. 48
- Has an aged face and a composed, understated bearing. 52
- His aura becomes notably solemn after witnessing the dangers of Chaos and the losses suffered beyond the Primordial World. 157
Personality
Hongjun is fundamentally concerned with the Primordial World's continued existence. He views catastrophic wars not merely as factional disputes, but as damage to the world's finite foundation, and he repeatedly intervenes when conflicts threaten irreversible destruction. 48 53 107
He is also probing and calculating. Rather than simply trusting Luo Xuan's promises, he tests his plans, gives him responsibility for the Human Race's spent foundation, and presses him about the personal motives behind his involvement in the Witch-Demon War. 53 108
Despite his detachment after merging with the Heavenly Dao, Hongjun develops clear approval for Luo Xuan. He protects him during the tribulation, calls him a promising grand-disciple, rewards his work for the Primordial Era, and refuses to abandon him when he is lost in Chaos. 48 128 139 144
