Background

Kaino is the biological son of Ziegfried Kaslana and Cecilia, as well as Bianca's brother. As a child, he and Bianca—then known as Kiana—were treated as twins; he was considered the elder only because Schicksal medical staff delivered him first. Before his Stigmata awakened, he lacked the Kaslana family's exceptional strength and Honkai resistance, describing himself as merely a somewhat sturdy nine-year-old. 2 135

When Kaino and Kiana discovered Ziegfried's USB drive containing the Sirin Project files, he immediately understood that Schicksal planned to use Kiana's genes to revive the Second Herrscher. He supported stopping the project, helped infiltrate the laboratory, and witnessed the rescue of experimental subject K423, another clone bearing Kiana's appearance. 3 4

The escape ended with Kaino injured, separated from his father and sisters, and rendered unconscious. In the years that followed, he arrived in an unfamiliar era or world; he told Karel that he came from five hundred years in the future, though its history differed from the one he found himself in. 4 6 12

His Stigmata later awakened, restoring his inherited physical aptitude and granting him a range of Herrscher-like authorities. He travelled between worlds through the Authority of the Void and, while moving through the Quantum Sea, used the names Kainu and Kaelen to conceal his identity from K423, who had grown up under the name Kiana. 6 26 60

After reaching St. Freya, Kaino rose to A-rank Valkyrie status. He eventually learned that Bianca was his biological sister through a World Serpent bloodline report, then helped reunite the fragmented Kaslana family and protect Kiana after the Herrscher of the Void personality awakened within her. 82 91 135 136

Kaino's natural appearance is marked by white hair and blue eyes, traits that make his Kaslana heritage recognizable. He previously used a golden-haired disguise while concealing his identity. 91 135

Personality

Kaino is intensely protective of his family. As a child, he opposed Kiana joining the dangerous operation against the Sirin Project despite her determination, and he later repeatedly prioritizes K423/Kiana's safety over convenient solutions. 3 136 138 When Fu Hua proposed placing Kiana in a painful illusion to strengthen her resolve, Kaino rejected the plan because he would not allow her to suffer for their strategy. 137 138

He is also mischievous and fond of teasing those close to him. He wakes Kiana early with deliberately absurd reasoning, calls Theresa “Big Auntie,” and once drew animals across young Bianca's face while she slept. 2 173 His humor does not prevent him from acting decisively in crises; he is willing to lie, negotiate, fight, or use overwhelming force when he believes it will protect others. 59 153

Despite his mental abilities, Kaino has clear ethical boundaries. He refuses to inspect Seele's memories without necessity and is uncomfortable with manipulating people, though he will cooperate in such acts when circumstances leave him no alternative. 52 149

Kaino's Stigmata gives him exceptional Honkai adaptability and a set of authorities resembling those of the First through Sixth Herrschers. He can draw Honkai energy directly from Imaginary Space, unlike ordinary Herrschers in some worlds. 6 12
