Background / History

Yunxiao took human form and entered Tongtian Cult Master’s sect alongside her younger sisters, Bixiao and Qiongxiao. Apart from Tongtian, whom she views as a father figure, and her elder brother Zhao Gongming, she spent most of her long life with her sisters and had little experience interacting with men. 663

As the eldest of the San Xiao, Yunxiao is regarded as exceptional in both cultivation and state of mind. Among Tongtian’s four chief disciples, only Duobao is said to be capable of suppressing her. 471

Tongtian assigned the San Xiao to assist Yu’s Flood Control, a task tied to immense Human Race merit. During the conflict at the Huai River, Yunxiao confronted the stronger Wu Zhiqi and took responsibility for protecting her sisters when the battle turned against them. 471 473 474

She is kind-hearted and inclined to assume the best of others. Zi Shou recognizes this tendency and appeals to her sympathy when explaining the dangers surrounding the Great Tribulation. 522 527

Yunxiao joins Bixiao and Qiongxiao in confronting Wu Zhiqi, who obstructs Yu’s Flood Control. After the San Xiao are defeated, she remains behind to delay Wu Zhiqi and enable her sisters’ escape. 473 474

When the conflict reaches a stalemate, Yunxiao tries to resolve it diplomatically. She urges Wu Zhiqi to consider his subordinates’ safety and offers the Heavenly Court as a future refuge for them. 481

Protector of Zi Shou

The Heavenly Emperor orders the San Xiao to secretly protect Zi Shou in Chaoge. After Zi Shou discovers them, Yunxiao becomes his primary contact and explains the Heavenly Realm’s hierarchy while maintaining a professional distance. 520 522

Yunxiao agrees to pose as Zi Shou’s admirer so he can avoid marrying Jiang Yun, though she insists that the arrangement remain secret from Bixiao and Qiongxiao. 528 530
