Background / History

Ruan Mei is an exceptional life-sciences genius whose ability to examine and alter living structures made most ordinary life forms transparent to her. Having exhausted much of her interest in conventional life, she turned her research toward Aeons and their Paths. Her long-running projects included Abundance and Propagation, subjects she considered part of her field despite their danger. 72 113

Near the star system of the slumbering Unmoving One, she encountered Kiana: a self-destroyer bearing Void power who had survived its corruption and possessed an unknown power later identified as Honkai energy. Ruan Mei judged Kiana's existence to be closer to an unascended Aeon than a human and brought the amnesiac girl to her laboratories for study. 72 145 146

Kiana agreed to cooperate with Ruan Mei's experiments in exchange for shelter, help recovering her past, and a temporary familial bond.
