A Dark Multiverse.
With a thud, Chen Tao threw Hero Day and himself out of the Metal Spirit's extradimensional space within his body, sending them tumbling into the woodland on the outskirts of this Dark Multiverse.
Hero Day rose from the ground, somewhat baffled.
"I don't quite understand this..."
Hero Day wanted to ask something. Batman Dragon's overly furious demeanor now seemed... well, somewhat unreasonable?
As far as he knew, Batman Dragon always appeared so confident, calm, and exceptional. Why had he suddenly become so enraged over this?
"Hey, calm down, Bat. Are you all right? I mean..."
"No, I'm fine. I've never been better."
Chen Tao patted Hero Day on the shoulder, then gave him an order.
"Go back and wait for me in the Dark Multiverse. I won't be long."
He paused.
"We haven't been driven into a corner yet. Trust me. I just need some time, and for now, we still have that."
There had been some emotion in his voice at first, but it gradually settled into complete calm, until it became as impassive as a still, ancient well.
Hero Day had no idea what Batman Dragon was thinking. He was always like this. No one knew what he was planning.
But it was extremely rare for Batman Dragon to show emotion. Hero Day had known Batman Dragon for so long... well, for a long time by the standards of his life, at least.
This was the first time he had seen Batman Dragon like this. How much of that blazing fury was genuine, and how much was feigned?
Was it a true outpouring of emotion, or merely a calculated performance taken advantage of by circumstance?
If it was a performance, then whom was he putting it on for?
Hero Day suddenly felt somewhat sorrowful.
