If the multiverse were missing the Green Lantern Corps, countless events would become logically impossible, ultimately triggering a collapse of logic and causing the entire multiverse to fall apart. It's unavoidable."
"The destruction of your home has become a cornerstone of the DC Multiverse. No one can pull out that cornerstone without destroying the DC Multiverse—unless that person is Perpetua."
The First Lantern heard the Mother of the Multiverse's voice: "And as it happens, I can."
"This damn multiverse is already a complete mess. My children failed to manage it properly after I left, and now that I've departed the Source Wall, everything should be set right... Forget it. Perhaps I've said too much, Huo Rong."
The First Lantern heard Perpetua speak.
"Why not return to this universe first and meet your mother? Your family?"
"No."
Perpetua heard Parallax Hal say this.
He had originally thought he would hear "yes."
The First Lantern had already proven to Perpetua just how badly—or rather, how desperately—these avengers living through their homelands wanted to change everything. They were pitiful wretches already captured by sorrow and suffering. Perpetua had thought she had prepared the perfect way to deal with them. As long as she found the homes they longed for, these people should have been hers to command.
