Background / History
Antitina was born into the declining Neson family of Brags. Her father, Borg Neson—also called Viscount Neison—was an explorer and collector of unusual stones whose long absences concealed a deeper investigation. After he disappeared, creditors forced Antitina to sell the family’s assets; her mother later died of grief, leaving Antitina alone in severe poverty on Gray Rat Street. 821 922 928
Despite being told by her mentors that she lacked exceptional talent for magitech, Antitina spent her remaining money and effort studying magical devices. Her designs originated partly from an old drawing preserved in her family’s basement, and she refused to abandon her research even after being deceived by merchants and nearly losing everything. 96 105
Brando found her while seeking the inheritance named in Borg Neson’s will. She declined his charity and instead offered a blueprint for a primitive Mana Conduction Device as payment for her father’s debt. Recognizing its significance, Brando hired her, promised to fund her research, and brought her into his retinue. 95 96 98
Years later, Antitina returned to Brags to investigate intrusions at her old home and recover her father’s hidden possessions. Using her family necklace and blood to reveal concealed writing, she deciphered Borg Neson’s letter to Pamid and helped uncover an iron chest containing family letters, wealth, a recording-crystal map, and enigmatic stone fragments. 832 834
Her lineage was eventually confirmed: Antitina is a descendant of Elkan III, the last king of the Xifah Dynasty, through a branch that fled after the Battle of Gray Mountain. Her royal genealogy gives her the name Moriah-Etalina-de-Xifah. 1095 1427
Appearance
Antitina is a slight, fair-skinned young noblewoman, initially described as only reaching Brando’s chest. Her reserved bearing and formal dress give her an elegant, serene presence despite the poverty of her early life. 95 824
- Long black hair, described as having a subtle purple sheen, falling to her waist. 95 134
- Warm, dark eyes and thick eyelashes. 95
- Frequently wears refined noble dresses, shawls, or winter furs appropriate to her position as an aide. 389 563
- Her black-purple coloring is noted as unusual among Eluins and possibly connected to an old bloodline. 134
Personality
Antitina is composed, proud, and strongly self-reliant. Even while destitute and grieving, she refuses charity, insists on repaying debts, and maintains the dignity she associates with her noble upbringing. 95 105
Highly analytical and competitive, she initially measures her plans against Brando’s seemingly impossible foresight and becomes discouraged by her own inexperience. Brando’s explicit faith in her judgment leads her to accept the role of his aide and commit herself to his ambitions. 165
She is pragmatic without being callous. Antitina understands that leadership has costs and is willing to make difficult decisions, yet she remains troubled by the losses suffered by those under her command. Her refusal to accept Sader’s survival-of-the-fittest reasoning reflects her belief that strength does not remove moral responsibility. 176 242 1428
