Vol. 1The Dawnblade Legion

Tyrel founded and led the Dawnblade Legion through the Forest Troll campaign and the Scourge’s growing threat. After Arthas invaded Quel'Thalas, Tyrel helped evacuate its people, while Arthas raised many High Elves as undead.

Arc 1The Dawnblade Legion

Tyrel Sunstrider chose the Paladin path, founded the Dawnblade Legion, and trained with allies across Lordaeron and Dalaran. He led the newly formed force to join Sylvanas Windrunner’s investigation of the Forest Trolls, establishing a fortified base at the Sunwell Plateau.

  • Tyrel Sunstrider chose to become a Paladin despite Prophet Vortale’s preference that he train as an Archmage, and Anasterian Sunstrider approved his choice.
  • After his baptism, Tyrel received Deatholme as his fief and permission to raise ten thousand troops, then recruited more than a thousand High Elves as Paladins and named their force the Dawnblade Legion.
  • Tyrel appointed Lor'themar Theron to govern Deatholme and left Tirion Fordring to train the recruits while he visited Kael'thas Sunstrider in Dalaran.
  • Tyrel met Arthas Menethil, Calia Menethil, and Thrall, and he trained with Alexandros Mograine, who taught him to combine the Holy Light with combat techniques.
  • Tyrel returned to Deatholme and prepared the Dawnblade Legion to assist Sylvanas Windrunner in investigating the Forest Trolls, taking Dath'Remar Sunstrider with him and leaving Countess Liadrin behind.

Arc 2The Dawnblade Campaign

Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion through the Forest Troll campaign, helping defeat Zul'jin’s forces at great cost. Back in Silvermoon, he helped establish the Spellblade profession and chose Cain as its first member.

  • Tyrel infiltrated the Forest Trolls’ ranks and learned that Dakara and Zul'jin planned to assault Pathfinder Camp, then sent Valeera to warn Sylvanas.
  • While Dalkhan and the Dawnblade Magisters fought Malakas at Morningstar Tower, Dakara’s force traveled through the Amani Crypt and Hoxbyr ambushed them.
  • Zul'jin broke into Pathfinder Camp as Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion into the battle, attacking the Forest Trolls from behind.
  • Tyrel and the Dawnblade Legion fought Egilson, Naralakh, and Haralaz, then left a gap for Zul'jin’s fleeing troops before sealing it and trapping the remaining trolls.
  • After the battle, Tyrel defeated Dakuro’s force, revealed his identity, killed Dakuro, and buried him beside Dakara in the Amani Crypt.
  • Tyrel brought the bloodied Dawnblade Legion to Silvermoon, where Anasterian honored the warriors and sparred with Tyrel before they developed the Spellblade profession.
  • Anasterian named the new profession Spellblade and ordered Tyrel to train its members while expanding the Dawnblade Legion to thirty thousand.
  • After a night of drinking and a pillow fight with the Paladins, Tyrel proposed that Cain and Rilas pioneer the Spellblade class, and Cain became Quel'Thalas’s first Spellblade.

Arc 3The March to Northrend

Tyrel helped Tirion Fordring escape exile and aided Arthas in uncovering the Scourge plague, but stayed with him when Arthas chose to purge Stratholme. Tyrel led the Dawnblade Legion to Northrend, where they established Dawnblade Port and began encountering the Scourge, Vrykul, and Dwarves.

  • Tyrel secured help from Arthas, Nathanos Marris, and Sylvanas Windrunner for Tirion Fordring’s trial, then took the exiled Tirion to Quel'Thalas after Uther Lightbringer stripped him of the Holy Light.
  • When Tirion learned Eitrigg was to be executed, Tyrel helped him rescue the Orc, and Tirion’s prayer restored the Holy Light and healed Eitrigg.
  • Thrall reunited with Eitrigg and explained his wish to find a homeland for the Orcs, while Tirion joined Tyrel on the journey to Quel'Thalas.
  • Tyrel joined Arthas and Jaina in investigating the plague, fought through Andorhal, and helped defend Hearthglen before Uther arrived with reinforcements.
  • After the Guardian warned Tyrel and Arthas to sail west, Tyrel stayed with Arthas, who ordered Stratholme purged when he realized its people were infected.
  • Tyrel returned to Quel'Thalas, mobilized the Dawnblade Legion, and sailed to Northrend, where his forces built Dawnblade Port and repelled a Scourge assault.
  • Tyrel’s forces recovered from the harsh climate and mana exhaustion, while Tesseran Bloodwatcher’s discoveries suggested a connection between the Vrykul and ancient humans.

Arc 4The Fall of Quel'Thalas

Tyrel pursued the Scourge’s threats from Northrend back to Quel'Thalas, where Arthas’s invasion overwhelmed the kingdom’s defenses. The High Elves evacuated civilians and children as Salorian fell and Arthas raised captives into the Scourge.

  • Muradin and the High Elves defeated the Scourge in Howling Fjord, and Arthas joined Muradin’s search for Frostmourne before sailing toward Dragonblight.
  • Tyrel freed Arkanimus beneath Moonwhisper Temple and formed a contract with it, then led the Dawnblade Legion against Anub'arak’s Nerubians until Saphiron and the Blue Dragons turned the battle.
  • Tyrel seized the Shadow Crystal in Nar'zul Abyss and collapsed under its energies, then learned Arthas had killed Mal'Ganis and returned to Lordaeron with Frostmourne.
  • Dalkhan weakened Quel'Thalas’s Magic Shield by binding the Sunwell, allowing Arthas’s Scourge to break through the defenses and drive Sylvanas’s forces toward Deatholme.
  • Tyrel returned to Deatholme and helped evacuate civilians, while Mother Tree Sas'aral gave him her life force and soul before he went to aid Sylvanas against Arthas.
  • Arthas shattered Tyrel’s sword and killed Luminas, but Salorian and the Sunfury Legion enabled the survivors to retreat before Salorian stayed behind and died defending the Sunwell.
  • Anasterian ordered Tyrel to lead the people to the Isle of Quel'Danas, and Tyrel arranged for wounded Rangers to escort High Elf children to Aerie Peak.
  • Arthas found Deatholme emptied by the evacuation, punished Gavinrad, transformed Veronaara into a Banshee, and raised many High Elves as undead.
