Origins and Nature
The Immortal Domain was established upon the ruins of the ancient Heavenly Court by Immortal Kings seeking refuge from darkness. It was formed using immortal dao laws rather than born naturally, and its laws replicated those of the Nine Heavens Ten Earths 265 420 582. It had also once been a region of the Nine Heavens Ten Earths before separating from them; it remains reliant on that world rather than existing as an independent great realm 633 662.
After the Nine Heavens Ten Earths were shattered and their laws became incomplete, the Immortal Domain grew into a cultivation center for True Immortals and Immortal Kings. It was nourished by generations of such beings and remained stronger than the Nine Heavens Ten Earths in the present era, though it no longer possessed its former glory 420 627.
Entry and Inhabitants
- Restricted entry: Becoming immortal is the stated requirement for entering, but the restriction chiefly applies to outsiders rather than members of the Domain's immortal sects and longevity Dao lineages 265.
- Asymmetric passage: The Domain severed the Two Realms Passage. Its True Immortals could descend to the Nine Heavens Ten Earths, while ascent in the opposite direction was difficult 636.
- Population: Despite its name, most residents are not True Immortals; ordinary beings there still cultivate and grow 496 663.
- Factions: Its powers include Immortal King clans, immortal noble families, longevity Dao lineages, and immortal great sects. No single group of kings controls them all 371 520.
History
During the Immortal Ancient era, the Domain was defended against a Foreign Domain invasion by Without End Immortal King, Six Paths of Reincarnation Immortal King, and the Willow Deity. A bloody hand whose power surpassed that of Immortal Kings subsequently threatened the entire realm 305 306.
In later eras, its kings became divided. Ao Cheng, Yuan Chu, and Tai Shi were implicated in the betrayal of the Willow Deity and the attack that interrupted Azure Moon True Immortal's ascent. The Domain's treatment of the Ten Ferocious and the Seven Kings of the Human Race also became central to Shi Yi's grievance against its rulers 370 616 654 656.
After becoming an Immortal King, Shi Yi and the Three Kings Council judged the Immortal Domain Kings a threat to cooperation against the Dark Purge. Shi Yi declared war, broke open the Domain's gates, and led a campaign intended to remove its rulers while sparing residents uninvolved in their actions 654 656 658. Tai Shi, Yuan Chu, and Ao Cheng were executed over three months, by which time the Domain had largely been pacified 661 662.
Shi Yi then imposed martial law. About sixty percent of its factions supplied a two-billion-strong army; an investigation into defiant factions uncovered collusion with the Weird Clan and led to a Great Purge with over a billion deaths 663 666. Its forces subsequently joined Shi Yi's campaign against Darkness Creatures in the Boundary Sea 668 669.
Under the later order centered on the Eight Regions, the Immortal Domain occupied an upper level alongside the Nine Heavens Ten Earths and Foreign Domain 675.
