Long before becoming Zhao Huazhen, Little Golden Dragon was the artifact spirit of the Primal Creation Plate. He chose the then-weak Ling Xiao, and the two fought across the heavens together. Ling Xiao later erased his true spirit and used the Plate's broken body as the foundation for his ascent, leaving Little Golden Dragon betrayed and nearly extinguished. 123

After reviving, the artifact spirit merged with Zhao Huazhen. Zhao had transmigrated into a mentally deficient little fish with an underdeveloped brain and only a second of memory; he survived the dangerous Tongtian River region, underwent Golden Scale Dragon Transformation, and rapidly rose to prominence.
