The First Snowfall of the New Year
How did we get into this Amusement Park?
As the Ferris wheel gradually ascended, Lu Ban asked Xiya a question.
"We bought our tickets with your money to get in?"
Xiya said as she recalled.
"Then we went straight to ride this, uh, Ferris wheel."
She's not quite used to the language of this world yet, but it seems she's already learned some basic usage.
Lu Ban didn't know if the mage had any special language talent, but Xiya did learn things very quickly.
"We were indeed the first to choose to ride the Ferris wheel, right?"
Lu Ban confirmed it again.
"Yes, we came here as soon as we entered the Amusement Park, because they said it has a wide view."
Xiya nodded.
"That's strange, when exactly did it snow here?"
Lu Ban glanced at the banks of the Ling River, where the grass, trees and greenery were covered with snow. Clearly, there had been a significant snowfall the night before, which explained why the snow hadn't completely melted by morning.
It definitely didn't snow yesterday; the weather was gloomy, and the weather forecast says it will only snow tonight.
But the scenery that Lu Ban was seeing now seemed to indicate that it had snowed last night.
Is there some problem that is difficult to detect?
"You mean, it's not like when we first came in?"
Xiya quickly understood what Lu Ban meant.
If everything goes smoothly and there are no abnormalities, then Lu Ban and his group should have just entered the Amusement Park and chosen to ride the Ferris wheel.
But now, the snow that should have fallen tonight has arrived a day early, which means there must be something wrong here.
"What if it wasn't that the snow came early, but rather that 'today' was already the second day?"
Lu Ban proposed a hypothesis.
Do you think our perception of time has become confused, or that our memories themselves have become disordered?
Xiya continued Lu Ban's words, looking at the next carriage where a Teddy Bear was sitting and waving in their direction.
"That's strange, wasn't that Teddy Bear just throwing balloons on the ground a moment ago?"
She said this, causing Lu Ban to turn his head to look over.
Lu Ban saw that the Teddy Bear was sitting in the sedan chair, its two eyes looking in this direction, with an unchanging expression that gave people a kind of creepy fear.
The Ferris wheel's music filled the air, accompanied by laughter and chatter, but Lu Ban felt as if all the sounds around him were fading away.
He looked down at the ground and saw Feng Yu holding Laika's hand, asking a blonde girl passing by what was going on.
Not far away, the balloons took flight, and the Teddy Bear that had been holding the balloons had disappeared from the children's lives.
Xiya also subconsciously glanced around.
Is there only one Teddy Bear in this Amusement Park?
She looked up as she asked the question.
She noticed that the Teddy Bear was sitting next to Lu Ban, its unchanging smile carrying a hint of malice.
When did this Teddy Bear arrive?
Xiya couldn't help but ask.
"Xiya, I have a question."
Lu Ban sat upright, looking at the Teddy Bear beside him, while asking Xiya a question.
What is Teddy Bear?
"Teddy Bear is just Teddy Bear."
Xiya couldn't help but answer.
"When did I ever explain to you what the concept of Teddy Bear represents?"
Lu Ban asked again.
She immediately understood what Lu Ban meant.
For Xiya, who comes from a foreign land, the concept of Teddy Bear is unfamiliar and doesn't exist.
Therefore, it would have been impossible for Xiya to directly say the word "Teddy Bear" unless Lu Ban had pointed to Teddy Bear and told her that it was Teddy Bear.
It's like someone who has never touched a suona before suddenly picking one up and playing a high-pitched melody.
This means that the concept of Teddy Bear has been implanted into Xiya's mind in some way.
In exotic parlance, this represents pollution.
The source of pollution
In the blink of an eye, Xiya felt warm all over. The sunshine after the snow fell on her, bringing a warm feeling. It was almost noon, and the winter sun was quite intense, making her want to take off her coat.
Which project should we visit first?
Beside him, Lu Ban held up the Amusement Park brochure he had just received and asked a question.
"A Ferris wheel can only seat two people at a time, how about Roller Coaster instead?"
Feng Yu pointed to the Roller Coaster that looked like a mine cart and said.
"Um"
Xiya felt something was off; she felt like she had forgotten something important or hadn't done it.
After riding the Roller Coaster, Xiya glanced at Lu Ban.
He seemed to sense that something was amiss.
Lu Ban sat on a chair to rest, looking at the Teddy Bear distributing balloons to children in the distance.
"Xiya, look what that is?"
He pointed to the Teddy Bear.
"It's Teddy Bear, what's wrong?"
Xiya glanced at it, puzzled.
"Nothing."
Lu Ban glanced at Laika beside him. The corgi was sitting there, sticking out its tongue, looking very hot.
"Laika, there's something I'd like to ask you."
Lu Ban looked at the almost melting snow on the roof of the Merry-go-round and said to Laika.
"Go back to me at 11:52 a. m. on January 5th and call my name three times."
Upon hearing Lu Ban's command, Laika called out and then disappeared.
"What's wrong?"
Feng Yu realized something was wrong, and she asked questions while confirming some things.
January 5th is today, and in less than a minute it will be 11:52. She didn't understand Lu Ban's meaning.
Lu Ban glanced at the time.
The next moment, Laika appeared at Lu Ban's feet and called out to him three times.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
"?"
Xiya was somewhat bewildered by what she saw.
"What are you doing?"
"You discovered the rules of this Amusement Park?"
Feng Yu seemed to have thought of something, and she asked.
"I still need to verify it, and I can't tell you directly, otherwise it could lead to unexpected problems."
Lu Ban nodded. He glanced at the Teddy Bear that had finished distributing balloons and seemed to have moved to the bench next door. The adorable Teddy Bear was looking at the tourists on the Roller Coaster, as if it was full of longing.
"Laika, go to the Amusement Park at 11:54 a. m. on January 6th, next to the bench by the Roller Coaster, and call out three times to the person sitting on the bench."
Lu Ban patted its head again.
The obedient dog wagged its tail and quickly disappeared into space.
"???"
Xiya was completely baffled.
What is the purpose of sending Laika to the future?
Does this Amusement Park cause cognitive impairment? Could it be that their sense of time is flawed?
But what can Lu Ban's actions reveal?
Just as Xiya was thinking, she saw Laika reappear beside the bench.
It glanced around, and finally barked three times at Lu Ban.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
