History

Nine-Tails Incident

During the Nine-Tails’ rampage, Minato and Kushina attempt to protect newborn Naruto after the beast is extracted from Kushina. Minato intends to seal Kushina’s remaining chakra into Naruto and sacrifice himself with the Reaper Death Seal. 1

Yoru no Tsuki’s intervention drives away the Death God that was about to take Minato’s soul, changing the outcome of the crisis. Minato later uses a Space-Time Barrier to redirect the devastating aftermath of Yoru’s attack, then orders the Nine-Tails sealed inside himself. 2 165 Kushina dies during the incident, while Minato survives as the Nine-Tails’ jinchūriki. 5

Fourth Hokage

As Hokage, Minato works to reintegrate the Uchiha clan into Konoha. He opposes Danzo and the elders’ harsher collective punishment, cites the clan’s wartime service, and pushes to reduce the Uchiha-exclusive nature of the Konoha Guard. 22

He later accepts that capturing Orochimaru is unnecessary to satisfy the Uchiha agreement, apologizes for failing to secure the clan’s full benefits, and appoints Shisui commander of his direct ANBU unit. 49 When Danzo’s Root targets Yoru no Tsuki, Minato has Kakashi intervene under a Hokage order. 64
