Background / History

Dao Ancestor Hongjun established the Mystic Gate Immortal Path after teaching in Purple Heaven Palace, intending for it to replace the Turbid Fiend God-Demon Path. Early in the story, however, it remained confined largely to the Kunlun Mountain region because Divine Demon Dao lineages obstructed its spread. 28

The path was promoted as a less resource-intensive alternative to the Turbid Fiend God-Demon Path. While still valuing innate talent, it emphasizes comprehension and can accommodate Postnatal Beings and lower-level cultivators more readily. 56 57

Its expansion was treated as a major trend of the Heavenly Dao. Fuxi persuaded the Demon Clan to support its propagation, arguing that the Demon Clan could rise alongside the Mystic Gate and recruit Mystic Gate cultivators into the Heavenly Court. 56

The emergence of the Earth Immortal lineage marked a major step toward completing the system. The Three Pure Ones recognized it as one of the Five Immortals and regarded its appearance as essential to the Mystic Gate's eventual flourishing. 105

At the Mystic Gate's founding assembly at Kunlun, the major Dao Lineages were formally presented. Zhou Yuan's early revelation of the Ghost Immortal Dao completed the Five Immortals ahead of its expected time, strengthening the Mystic Gate's Destiny but disrupting existing plans. 152 154

Following the declaration of the Five Immortals' lineages, Purple Firmament Palace manifested to stabilize the newly formed Destiny of the Mystic Gate Immortal Path. Its establishment immediately drew opposition from forces aligned with the old order, including the Four Extreme Divine Lords, the Western Demonic Cult, remnants of the Divine Demon Dao lineages, and Chaos Demon Gods. 155 156

Conflict with the Old Order

The Mystic Gate's rise is framed as a struggle between a new Immortal Dao order and the remnants of earlier epochs. Its primary objective is to replace the Divine Demon and Turbid Fiend traditions that had been embedded into the rules of the Heavenly Dao by ancient powers. 105 157

The path's rapid growth made its founding assembly a battlefield. The defeated alliance sought to weaken the Mystic Gate's momentum, while the Mystic Gate's supporters fought to stabilize its Destiny and secure its authority over the Primordial World. 110 155 157

Although its Five Lineages were united during the founding crisis, internal competition remains an inherent risk: the Mystic Gate's Destiny is finite, and the prosperity of one lineage can reduce the share available to another. 144
