Background / History

The Netherworld is one of two worlds contained within the Primordial Great World, alongside the Thirty-three Heavens. Unlike the Heavenly Realm, which was developed and exploited by the Primordial Divine Race, the Netherworld remained absent from historical records and was regarded by Zhou Yuan as an undeveloped celestial expanse. 112

According to Great Dark Sky, the Pangu Clan opened the Netherworld last, leaving it barren and shallow in foundation. The Clan then imprisoned captured Chaos Demon Gods there, intending to use their Dao Bodies, Primordial Spirits, True Spirits, Status, and foundations as fuel to nourish the realm. 119

Zhou Yuan arrived after escaping the Great Freedom Heavenly Son's tribulation, using the Myriad Souls Banner's prior connection to Netherworld energy to avoid being lost in the River of Time. Though heavily injured, he recognized the realm's strategic value and began exploring it through Nine Nether Profound Yin Su Nü. 112

His promotion of the Ghost Immortal Great Dao aligned with the Netherworld's will, drawing native beings to the teaching and leading to the discovery of Luofeng Mountain, the realm's central authority nexus. 124 126 128 After the blood-red moon was removed, Emperor Fengdu established a replacement moon and assumed responsibility for the realm's cultivation and stability. 134 135

Environment

The Netherworld is a pitch-black realm shrouded in dense fog and Yin energy. Its landscapes are associated with death, decay, and hidden dangers; native beings historically concealed themselves in Yin mist to avoid being sacrificed by Chaos-era existences. 112 113 126

• A blood-red full moon once hung permanently over the realm. Its light caused dizziness in observers and could corrupt beings with madness, red hair, and loss of control. 112 113
• The realm's Yin energy makes it especially suited to nurturing souls and cultivating the Ghost Immortal Path. 125
• Heavenly secrets within the Netherworld are obscure beneath its black mist, making hidden inhabitants difficult to locate even through deduction. 121

Blood-Red Moon

The former blood-red moon was a Pangu Clan-created Supreme Treasure rather than an ordinary celestial body. It refined Chaos Demon Gods exposed to its light, reducing their foundations and Status to nourish the Netherworld. 120

• Chaos Demon Gods were forced to retreat into Dao Domains to resist its erosion. 120
• Its influence prevented Meng Po from freely leaving her domain for extended periods. 128

New Netherworld Moon

After the blood moon vanished, Emperor Fengdu used the thoughts of Netherworld beings and residual Chaos Demon God aura to create a new moon. 135

• The moon is formed from the collective thoughts of the realm's beings, refining falsehood into truth. 135
• Its light generates Nine Nether Yin energy wherever it spreads. 135
• On every full moon, Emperor Fengdu scatters Nine Nether True Water to awaken Yin Souls' intelligence and strengthen their essence, energy, and spirit. 135

Ghost Immortal Great Dao

Zhou Yuan taught that the Ghost Immortal Path is a path of transformation from death to life: refining Pure Yin into Pure Yang, comprehending life, death, fate, and eventual return from annihilation. 125

• Meng Po — An ancient Chaos Demon God who resides near the River of Forgetfulness. She joined the Ghost Immortal Path, accepted the Ten Great Yin Commanders as disciples, and later guarded the Netherworld with Emperor Fengdu. 123 125 127 138
• Emperor Fengdu — Sect Master of the Netherworld and holder of its origin authority. He resides at Taisha Heavenly Palace, governs Netherworld spirits, and suppresses the Chaos Demon Gods. 132 135
• Nine Nether Profound Yin Su Nü — Banner Spirit of the Myriad Souls Banner, born from Netherworld energy. The realm's Destiny and Fortune favor her cultivation. 112 113
