Lu Yang originated from an impoverished farming family in Black Mountain County, Wanlin Prefecture, Qingzhou. Orphaned young, he sold his family’s land and house to enter the county yamen’s martial arts school. After reaching the Body Tempering Fourth Level, he became a constable; he had reached the Sixth Level by the time his original body died during a demon-extermination mission. A soul from another world then transmigrated into his body, inheriting his name and memories 1.

As a constable, Lu Yang survived the bat-demon incident that killed several colleagues and began investigating the Wang Family’s suspicious corpse transports.
