The Castle of the City of Ambition.
Since early winter began, Lord Mila had been keeping a close eye on the situation in the Black Forest.
Just a few days ago, an injured Mukkuru Hawk had flown back to the City of Ambition, bringing news from the front.
For some unknown reason, the number of Monsters migrating from Mt. Coronet to the Black Forest this year was unusually high. This had driven large numbers of Monsters from the Black Forest into the City of Ambition's territory.
Worse still, a pack of Great Wolfdogs from Mt. Coronet had entered human territory, causing two knights to go missing.
At the end of the letter was a request for reinforcements. If the City of Ambition didn't send more of the Knight Order to clear out the invading Monsters from the lands near the Black Forest, the villagers in the surrounding area would be in danger.
"Kevin, what do you think?" Mila asked her Chief Knight, her expression grave.
After reading the letter from the front lines, Kevin's expression was just as solemn. The situation at Guixu Cave had already placed the City of Ambition under tremendous threat, and now they were facing an invasion by large numbers of Monsters as well.
They had originally planned to wait until the winter snows arrived before beginning preparations to drive out the Monsters. Who could have known that the snow would be so late in coming?
Once the snow fell, heavy snowfall would block most roads. The Monsters would hide and become less active, and some would find places to hibernate for the winter.
After winter passed, the Monsters from the slopes of Mt. Coronet would leave the Black Forest, and those that had entered human territory would return to the forest. The cycle would repeat.
