The village had been very peaceful over the past week.
Since it was already midwinter, all the berries in the orchard had been harvested.
In the farm's cellar, Daby was counting the Orange Berries from the fourth harvest.
However, these Orange Berries hadn't been handed over by the villagers for them to make Healing Potions. Aiven had procured them himself, naturally intending to use them as food for the Great Wolfdogs.
"Aiven, are you really planning to raise so many Great Wolfdogs?"
"Judging by how much the Great Wolfdogs are eating now, it'll be difficult for us to provide enough food."
As he counted the berries, Daby sighed to Aiven.
As far as he was concerned, the Gloom were more than enough to protect the village. Raising Great Wolfdogs seemed unnecessary.
Besides, the Great Wolfdogs were so docile now only because they were being given plenty of food. If they couldn't provide enough, the Great Wolfdogs could leave at any time, and all their efforts would have been for nothing.
Aiven didn't argue. He nodded slightly and said, "At the moment, these berries should just about last until winter ends."
"And what about after winter?"
"Orange Berries are being harvested right now. In any other year, we wouldn't have this many to feed the Great Wolfdogs."
Daby continued to point this out. His meaning was clear: they simply couldn't afford to raise so many Great Wolfdogs.
"I've thought about that, too."
"So I plan to build an industry around the Great Wolfdogs."
"The Great Wolfdogs have a powerful sense of smell and are very strong. There's definitely a market for them."
Aiven smiled as he spoke. With their keen noses, the Great Wolfdogs could be used to search for valuable medicinal herbs.
He had already decided that once spring arrived,
