Background / History

Tyrantrum began as an Ironclad Rhinoceros that pulled carriages. Under Aiven’s care, it trained intensely rather than remaining a work beast, becoming recognizable by the white ribbon tied around its head. Its persistence culminated in an evolution during a desperate fight with Torterra in the Black Forest. 132 139

After evolving, it pursued strength through repeated challenges against stronger Spirits, especially Torterra. Though Torterra initially defeated it decisively, Tyrantrum continued training rather than becoming discouraged. 155 157

Aiven later directed Tyrantrum toward blacksmithing as both practical work and physical conditioning. The training developed its control of Fire-type energy, strengthened its body through heat and pressure, and became the foundation of its later evolution into Mega Tyranitar. 197 235 297 363

Appearance

Tyrantrum is a colossal, dinosaur-like Spirit protected by gray, armor-like skin. Its head bears a massive drill, and it stands on two legs with powerful arms and a thick tail. 80 155

  • Wears a distinctive white ribbon around its head. 139 157
  • Its body and fists darkened after prolonged high-temperature and forging training. 235 297
  • Can withstand extreme heat, including lava hot enough to melt steel. 197 344
  • As Mega Tyranitar, it becomes significantly larger and gains dark skin covered by orange-red metallic armor. 363

Personality

Tyrantrum is highly combative and actively seeks battles against powerful opponents. It repeatedly challenges Torterra despite losses and becomes excited whenever it has an opportunity to fight. 157 185 197

It is exceptionally diligent, redirecting its usual running regimen into blacksmithing once Aiven explains that forging may lead to further evolution. It also enjoys Aiven’s praise and remains eager to prove its growth. 132 197 234

Abilities & Skills

Rock and Ground Attributes

Tyrantrum retains its Rock- and Ground-attribute affinity after evolution, using both for direct offense, terrain control, and defense. Its dual typing grants exceptional resistance to Poison-attribute attacks. 155 246

  • Uses Earth Power to create spikes, walls, and other eruptions from the ground. 157 161
  • Senses movement through the earth and can track opponents even through smoke or underground. 80 161
  • Uses Digging Move for underground movement, excavation, and land cultivation. 174 228
  • Resists Poison-attribute attacks four times over due to its Rock/Ground typing. 246

Rock Throw and Rock Slide

Tyrantrum exploits its powerful arms to turn Rock-type techniques into heavy close- and long-range attacks. 155

  • Hurls massive rocks with Rock Throw, adding its physical strength to the attack. 155 157
  • Condenses Rock Slide around its fists for close-quarters strikes. 157 246
  • Can use Primal Power-enhanced Rock Slide as a volley of sharp, controlled stones. 185

Drill Run

Tyrantrum’s head drill can gather Ground-type energy into a penetrating attack powerful enough to break through Torterra’s Wood Hammer. 164 185

  • Initially channels the move through the drill on its head. 132 164
  • Later forms rotating Ground-type drills around both hands, allowing it to strike with Drill Run punches. 246
  • Its fully charged Drill Run defeated Torterra in the tournament’s showcase battle. 185

Primal Power

Tyrantrum awakened Primal Power while fighting Torterra, gaining significantly finer control over Rock-type energy. 157

  • Produces and launches multiple floating rocks in rapid succession. 157
  • Improves the charging speed and power of its Rock-type techniques. 157
  • Reinforces damaged terrain, including the village battle arena after the tournament showcase. 185

Fire Punch and High Temperature Pressure

Blacksmithing enabled Tyrantrum to sense Fire-type energy and develop Fire-attribute combat techniques despite not being a Fire-type Spirit. 197

  • Uses Fire Punch to ignite furnaces, forge metal, and attack Grass-attribute opponents. 235 288
  • Combines flames, body weight, and pressure through High Temperature Pressure to temper its own body. 297 300
  • Can briefly contend with King-level opponents through high temperature and pressure, but the technique causes immense energy consumption when used at full power. 347
  • Began fusing Fire- and Ground-type energy into magma after obtaining a Fire Stone. 344

Blacksmithing

Tyrantrum became a capable blacksmith under Aiven’s direction and later received instruction from the blacksmith Weber. 197 234

  • Forges metal and helped manufacture Poké Balls from White Oran Berries. 224 300
  • Uses flaming fists as hammers and can safely handle red-hot metal. 197 300
  • Developed specialized full-body power-exertion techniques through repeated hammering. 228 245
  • Its forged iron was considered crude in shape but comparable to a master blacksmith’s work in purity and forging method. 300

Mega Tyranitar Form

As Mega Tyranitar, it gains overwhelming durability and destructive power. 363

  • Uses Rock Cannon and Lava Cannon against Mega Gengar. 363
  • Held back invading Magical Beast armies and injured Landorus with Rock Cannons and Heavy Slam during the Spirit Territory’s defense. 391
  • Its extreme Lava Cannon can push its body beyond its limits, causing cracks in its arms. 363
  • Was defeated and reverted from its Mega form by Tsareena’s Solar Beam and Leech Seed. 364
