World Structure
- Heavenly regions — The Thirty-Three Heavens include the Heavenly Court; the world's stars help maintain its barrier, regulate spiritual energy, and stabilize earth, water, fire, and wind 138 158.
- Netherworld — The Nine Netherworlds contain the Six Paths of Reincarnation. The Sea of Blood is connected to the world's purification and the balance of Reincarnation 89 168 210.
- Outer boundary — A membrane marks the transition from the world's spiritual energy and Heavenly Dao laws into the more volatile Chaos beyond it 130 202.
- Guixu — Described as the world's end, where all things return to stillness 41.
Laws and Origin
The Heavenly Dao's laws shape life within the Primordial World, but they do not extend over Chaos in the same way. After attaining Primordial Grand Unity, Tongtian senses a more equal connection to the world: he can borrow its power without depending on the Heavenly Dao for his own 108 130.
The world's origin reacts to approaching danger. As an immense shadow advances through Chaos, Tongtian receives a warning through the resonance of the Chaos Bead and the Primordial World's Origin. An earlier disturbance near East Sea Guixu also coincides with an oppressive fear described as arising from the world's essence 41 57.
Otherworld Threat
- Demonic invasion — A vast entity approaches from Chaos, while a later rift in the Northern Continent releases corrosive Exotic Demonic Qi into the ice plains 57 174.
- Stellar erosion — Pollution or theft of stellar power could cause regional disasters and spiritual-energy depletion; severe damage could destabilize the world's barrier and ease a larger invasion 138.
- Sea of Blood demonization — Its corruption threatens the Primordial World's purification and Reincarnation, prompting Tongtian to consider helping Old Ancestor Minghe despite their enmity 168.
- Defensive response — Zhen Yuanzi calls on earth spirits to stabilize mountains, rivers, and spiritual hubs. Forces across the world mobilize against the devouring threat from Chaos, and major factions later establish a Northern Continent defense line 154 174.
Distinction from the Primordial Realm
The Primordial Realm is a separate world created by Tongtian in the Chaos Void, not another name for the Primordial World. Its laws are distinct from those of the Great Desolation's Heavenly Dao 47 54.
