Saint Position and Authority

Heavenly Dao Saint Position

The Saint Position binds a Saint's Primordial Spirit to the Heavenly Dao, granting continued existence alongside it but leaving the Saint dependent on—and vulnerable to—the Heavenly Dao's fate. The System describes the position as a mechanism through which Hongjun maintains control over the Great Desolation. 1

• Tongtian was formerly a Heavenly Dao Saint before detonating his Saintly Dao Fruit and falling to the early Quasi-Saint stage. 1

History

War of Investiture of the Gods

The Saints' collective intervention destroyed the Intercepting Sect's former dominance. Laozi, Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti joined forces to break the Immortal Execution Sword Formation; Intercepting Sect disciples were killed, absorbed into the Western Teachings, or bound to the Investiture of the Gods. 1

Following the war, Hongjun forced Tongtian to take the Saint-Slaying Pill and confined him within Zixiao Palace. Tongtian regarded the punishment and the destruction of his sect as proof that Saints and the Heavenly Dao treated lesser beings as expendable pieces. 1

Tongtian's Defection

Tongtian's destruction of his own Saint Position shocks the Great Desolation and turns him into a target of the other Saints. 1 8

After Tongtian reconstructs the Sanxiao's bodies, Yuanshi, Jieyin, Zhunti, and Laozi unite to capture him. Their blockade is broken only when Tongtian uses a Chaos-grade spatial talisman to escape with his disciples. 17

The Saints continue to investigate Tongtian's movements, his connection to Chaos, and his growing ties with the Dragon Clan, Zhen Yuanzi, and the Netherworld. 28 110

Demonic Tribulation

The approach of the Otherworld Demonic Tribulation forces a partial change in the Saints' attitudes. Laozi offers indirect support, the Western Teachings reduce their obstruction, the Heavenly Court seeks cooperation, and Nuwa works with Tongtian to refine the Creation Demon Purging Talisman. 117

Despite this alignment, the Saints retain separate agendas:

• Yuanshi treats Tongtian's rise as a danger to Heavenly Dao order and prepares to restrain the Intercepting Sect. 150
• Jieyin and Zhunti seek authority over purification and stabilization while protecting the Western Teachings' interests. 170
• Laozi favors unity against the external enemy and intervenes to prevent a direct Saint war at Golden Ao Island. 171
• Nuwa cooperates with Tongtian in defending living beings from demonic qi, while remaining cautious about the larger conflict. 117 198

Saint Covenant and the Northern Continent

Yuanshi convenes Tongtian, Jieyin, and Zhunti at the Zixiao Palace Old Site after the Otherworld Devils' assault at Flowing Fire Plain. They establish a preliminary Saint-level agreement involving a Chaos early-warning system, Demon Suppressing Fortresses, and regular meetings. 170

The agreement becomes strained when Tongtian admits that he used the Demon God Skeleton as bait to draw Outer Realm Demons into the Great Desolation. Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti demand the skeleton; Tongtian refuses and threatens to deploy the Immortal Execution Sword Formation. Laozi's decree prevents an immediate battle. 171

When a Demon Saint descends at the Northern Darkness Demon Suppressing Pass, the Saints temporarily set aside their disputes to resist the threat. Tongtian instead accelerates the Demon Saint's descent, intending to use it as prey for his sword formation. 171 172

After the Twin Demon Saints' Fall

Tongtian traps the Destruction Demon Saint and Withering Demon Saint within the Immortal Execution Sword Formation, then annihilates both with a united Chaos Sword Qi. The Demon Slaying Banner absorbs their complete Origin and laws. 179

Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti are left shocked and apprehensive by Tongtian's display, recognizing that his power has surpassed their prior understanding of a Saint's limits. 179 183

After the Demon Slaying Banner transforms using the laws of the slain Demon Saints, the Saints largely retreat into silence or defensive consolidation rather than openly confront Tongtian. 184
