Background / History

Zhou Qing's former life was Emperor Sui, the first human created by Empress Wa. As the Human Ancestor, he led humanity, established the Drilling Wood for Fire method, and gained Heavenly Dao Merit; Nuwa also entrusted him with the Four Swords of Zhu Xian to suppress the Human Race's destiny 94 116.

As Human Emperor, Zhou Qing refused the Witch Clan's demand that humanity submit to it. Even after Tongtian took the Four Swords of Zhu Xian, he rallied the Human Race and declared that the Ancestor Witches would have to step over his corpse before they could force its surrender 119.

Following Zhang Hao's judgment of the transmigrators, Zhou Qing was stripped of the title Emperor Sui and assigned as Human Dao Master in the Underworld. Rather than remain there, he left his body to suppress the Human Dao and entered the Six Paths of Reincarnation so he could someday return to the Human Race 159.

Personality

Zhou Qing is resolute in protecting humanity, willing to confront vastly stronger opponents rather than accept the Human Race's subjugation 115 119.

He is also cautious and pragmatic. During the Kunlun expedition, he recognizes Long Aotian's inconsistencies, questions his identity directly, and cooperates only after negotiating an exchange of methods 407 408.

Despite learning of Emperor Sui's legacy, Zhou Qing consistently chooses self-determination. He refuses to merge with his former Dao Fruit, later severs the causal ties of Emperor Sui's merit, debts, and inheritance, and defines himself through his own role as Heavenly Dao Sect Master 439 447.

Abilities & Skills

Yuqing Immortal Method

Zhou Qing's foundational inheritance is the Yuqing Immortal Method, which he continues cultivating from the Dharma-ending Age through his ascent into the immortal path.

  • Enables refined spiritual perception, including the detection of spatial rifts at the Kunlun Ruins 409.
  • Its Yuqing Dao rhyme causes the Guardians of the Ruins to recognize him as the fated inheritor they awaited 410.
  • He uses Yuqing Immortal Light alongside Faith Power and the God-Beating Whip's aura to withstand the Immortal Ascension Tribulation 436.
  • The method is incomplete during his initial exchange with Aotian Immortal Emperor, containing only its basic section 408.

Spirit Tempering Art and Yang Spirit

Aotian Immortal Emperor gives Zhou Qing the Spirit Tempering Art in exchange for viewing the general outline of the Yuqing Immortal Method 408.

  • Zhou Qing enters the art's threshold within three days and reaches minor accomplishment after one month 412.
  • Strengthens and purifies his Yin Spirit, sharply improving his perception, danger sense, and ability to read emotional fluctuations 412.
  • Supports his eventual achievement of the Yang Spirit, allowing his spirit to roam the Great Void and cross several light-years in a thought 419.

Faith Dao Fruit and Heavenly Dao Authority

Zhou Qing accumulates Faith Power through a century of preaching the Heavenly Dao and performing acts of justice 434.

  • Condenses a Faith Dao Fruit resembling the embryonic form of a divine office rather than a conventional immortal Dao Fruit 434.
  • Gains authority over an aspect of the Heavenly Dao through faith and deeds 434.
  • Develops a personal path of using Faith Power to bear the Heavenly Dao and using the Heavenly Dao to command laws 440.
  • Deepens this understanding through a hundred reincarnations, each proving the Dao through a different life and perspective 454.

God-Beating Whip

The Guardians of the Ruins entrust Zhou Qing with the God-Beating Whip after identifying him through his Yuqing Dao rhyme 410.

  • Activates the formation in Return to Ruins Hall and releases Kunlun's ancient spiritual-energy source, ending the Dharma-ending Age's spiritual decline 411.
  • Gradually recovers through Zhou Qing's cleansing with Faith Power and becomes increasingly connected to him 440.
  • Allows him, together with the Chaos Bell, to suppress three Pseudo-Jie Sect Zenith Heaven Golden Immortals 449.

Chaos Bell

Chen Tian's lingering will guides Zhou Qing to his former sacred body, where Zhou Qing awakens the Chaos Bell instead of fusing with his past Dao Fruit 445.

  • Its awakening accompanies Zhou Qing's breakthrough to Primordial Unity Golden Immortal 445.
  • Suppresses captured enemies beneath Buzhou Mountain 449.
  • Heightens his sensitivity to space-time and enables him to detect an infiltrating destructive intent crossing the World Barrier 453.
  • Stabilizes and nourishes the reincarnated Xuan Qing and Qing Li 453.
