Background

Past Life and Reincarnation

Tang San was originally an outer disciple of the Shu Zhong Tang Sect. He secretly learned the inner sect's Mysterious Heaven Skill, was rejected by the sect, and died after jumping from a cliff. Asura God later states that he transferred Tang San's soul to the Douluo Continent to cultivate him as a potential successor. 234 265

He retained his previous-life memories, knowledge of poison, and knowledge of Tang Sect hidden weapons, but concealed this truth from those around him. When pressed about his conflict with the Suotuo City Tang Sect, he claimed only to have recurring dreams of a Tang Sect from Bashu. 103 104 116

Early Soul Master Career

As a child, Tang San registered as a Soul Master at Nuoding City's Martial Soul Hall branch. There, he was astonished by the public display of Yan Chixia's nine Ten Thousand-Year Soul Rings. 23

After Martial Soul Hall began pursuing Tang Hao, Tang Hao removed Tang San and Xiao Wu from Nuoding City and placed them at Shrek Academy on Yu Xiaogang's recommendation. Tang San insisted that Xiao Wu accompany them, regarding her as his acknowledged sister and most important companion. 86 101

Conflict with the Tang Sect

Tang San learned that a newly established Tang Sect had become the continent's third-ranked sect and used the same poisons and hidden weapons as his past-life sect. Believing Tang Lian might be a reincarnated fellow disciple, he and Xiao Wu visited its Suotuo City headquarters under the names Tang Yin and Tang Wu. 101 103

He passed the Tang Sect's entry trials and told Tang Lian that he had dreamed of the Tang Sect since childhood. When Tang Lian and Wang Zhen suspected him of possessing stolen secret arts, Tang San denied having them; under attack, he instinctively used Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track to protect Xiao Wu. 103 104

Tang Hao intervened after Tang San and Xiao Wu were severely injured, but the Tang Sect poisoned and overwhelmed him. Tang Hao used Exploding Ring to escape with them, then sacrificed his remaining four Soul Bones to save Tang San's life. Flender concealed Tang Hao's death from Tang San until he could reach the Soul Ancestor realm. 105 106 110 113

Appearance

Before a second awakening of his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul, Tang San is described as having an ordinary, passerby-like appearance. He often conceals himself behind a mask while traveling or acting against Martial Soul Hall. 244 282

  • Usually carries Xiao Wu in her rabbit form. 150 266
  • Wears the Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night at his waist. 101 112
  • Used an Asura mask while investigating news of Tang Chen and confronting enemies. 244 245
  • Possesses four high-level Soul Bones inherited from Tang Hao. 110 151

Personality

Tang San is generally polite and restrained toward strangers, but reacts with lethal hostility when he believes someone has crossed him or threatened those he considers family. 101 245

He is intensely protective of Xiao Wu, repeatedly prioritizing her safety and restoration over his own academy ties, future plans, and physical condition. 86 114 240 266 Her injury and regression into a rabbit drive much of his resentment toward Yan Chixia and Martial Soul Hall. 151 245

His compassion can override caution: he saved a Dark Farting Pig from a Flame Golden Eagle, then accepted the sacrifices of both the pig and its mate without considering the consequences for his Clear Sky Hammer. 192 193 Conversely, his desire for vengeance can make him cold and decisive; he killed several Soul Masters with Silent Sleeve Arrows after they spoke of reporting Tang Chen to Martial Soul Hall. 245

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, with the hammer serving as his second Martial Soul. 151 193

  • His Blue Silver Grass displayed eight rings after Asura God's intervention: two yellow, four black, and two red. 266
  • He can activate the Clear Sky Hammer's Martial Soul True Body in combat. 277
  • His Clear Sky Hammer techniques include Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer and the Eighth Soul Skill, Ten Directions Annihilation. 278 280
  • Two Dark Farting Pig Soul Rings attached to the hammer granted Stinking Sky and Fart Thunder Hammer, but Yu Xiaogang judged the choice a waste of the hammer's potential. 193

Mysterious Heaven Skill

The Mysterious Heaven Skill is the highest inner-sect cultivation method of Tang San's previous-life Tang Sect. He had cultivated it to the seventh level before reincarnation and continued using it to cultivate in the Douluo Continent. 265

  • Accelerates his cultivation and was central to his recovery and growth after Tang Hao's death. 135 172
  • He channels it to heal Xiao Wu when possible. 116
  • Its previous-life cultivation was partially restored by Asura God's divine trial. 265 266

Tang Sect Martial Arts

Tang San retained several Tang Sect self-created techniques despite initially hiding their origin.

  • Mysterious Jade Hand — hardens and protects his hands from poison; useful for handling and launching hidden weapons. 220 222
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — evasive footwork that lets him move through dense attacks and rapidly protect allies. 104 222
  • His understanding of Tang Sect methods allowed him to identify when Ning Rongrong's Nine Yin Divine Claw and White Python Whip Technique had form but lacked intent. 222

Poison and Healing Arts

Tang San is proficient with poisons and poison-based hidden weapons from his previous life. 102 112

  • Detoxified himself after Tang Lian's Seven Fiends Poison Palm. 112
  • Stabilized Yu Xiaogang after Purple Spider Poison, though he required specific herbs for a complete cure. 112 113
  • Used poison to fight poison and collected toxic materials for hidden-weapon use. 112

Hidden Weapons

Tang San uses concealed weapons and considers the Tang Sect established by Tang Lian a “fake Tang Sect,” reserving legitimacy for the Tang Sect he intends to create. 192

  • Silent Sleeve Arrows — used to kill several Soul Masters in a restaurant. 245
  • Mother-Child Soul Chasing Life Taking Gallbladders — explosive, poison-filled weapons capable of severely poisoning Chrysanthemum Douluo. 274 277
  • His available stock was limited in Martial Soul City; he lacked the materials to forge stronger weapons such as the King of Hell's Post, Guanyin's Tears, and Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus. 280

Soul Bones

Tang San absorbed four Soul Bones left by Tang Hao after his father's death. 110 112

  • The bones restored his crushed chest and strengthened his Blood Essence, allowing him to survive his injuries. 110 112
  • They were described as high-level Soul Bones exceeding fifty thousand years. 151
  • Their skills eventually revealed Tang Hao's fate to Tang Xiao. 193

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night — storage belt used to carry poison, medicine, and hidden weapons. 101 112
  • Asura mask — used to conceal his identity while gathering information and acting in public. 244 245
  • Mother-Child Soul Chasing Life Taking Gallbladders — his strongest available hidden weapons during the Martial Soul City battle. 274 280
