Background

Yan Chixia was originally a famed judge across the twenty-six provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi. Disillusioned by corrupt officials, he retired to Lanruo Temple and became a demon-hunting cultivator. His past feats include sealing a thousand-year-old tree demon, slaying the Black Mountain Old Demon, killing a centipede spirit, and repeatedly rescuing Ning Caichen. 5

Ye Zhou summoned him as an A-rank character card after sacrificing his home to the Myriad Worlds Summoning System. Although he retained his original personality, he was bound by the system’s loyalty safeguards and could be relied upon to obey Ye Zhou’s commands. 5

After reading Ye Zhou’s copy of Douluo Continent, Yan Chixia awakened a sword Martial Soul at Spirit Hall and openly exposed his unprecedented level-92 Innate Soul Power. Rather than hiding, he intended to draw Martial Soul Hall’s attention so that he could seek out the more righteous Douluo Worship Hall faction led by Qian Daoliu. 6 9

His rough manners coexist with a strongly righteous worldview. He despises those who harm innocents, regards demons and evil cultivators as natural enemies, and joined the Worship Hall faction because he wanted the power to prevent war and protect common people. 5 9

He is openly hostile toward Bibi Dong, regularly insulting her and threatening to kill her should she murder good people. His bluntness can become tactically useful: while trapped in the Rakshasa small world, he repeatedly provoked her into revealing her location and interrupting her absorption of Di Tian’s life force. 31 267
