His gaze passed over the circle of people seated within the hall, sweeping over Zhunti, Jieyin, and the little golden monkey in Su Miao's arms, who was intently gnawing on a piece of fruit.
He spoke coolly.
"What happened to Miao Heng?"
"Why has a child suddenly appeared under your name?"
Su Miao might not have cared if Tongtian took on another disciple, but if Yuanshi were to accept one, she would feel somewhat unwilling.
Yuanshi had fulfilled all her fantasies about family and showered her with boundless favoritism.
Naturally, Su Miao had developed a possessive attachment toward Yuanshi and the Three Pure Ones.
So when Yuanshi and the Three Pure Ones told her they would not take on any more disciples, Su Miao had secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
But the reverse was equally true.
Tongtian and Laozi were still tolerable. They rather liked and looked after the Farm Teachings Disciples and Xuandu, and whenever Sudden Intuition struck, they would even visit the Farm Teachings to give a lecture or two.
But Yuanshi could not accept his beloved disciple forming important karmic and Fortune ties with other living beings.
Even when Xuandu, the Holy Son of the Farm Teachings, studied at Kunlun and sought his guidance, Yuanshi had always treated him indifferently. As for the Farm Teachings themselves, he simply ignored them.
And this was such an important, intimate parent-child karmic bond.
Wukong was frightened by Yuanshi's icy gaze and hid inside Su Miao's wide sleeve. He instinctively looked toward Zhunti and called out, "Father."
This cry of "Father" successfully redirected the disaster toward Zhunti.
