Background / History

A veteran of the Warring States Period, the Great Elder belonged to the generation of Uchiha Madara, Uchiha Izuna, and Tobirama Senju. Though not equal to Madara or Izuna, he was considered a first-tier Uchiha prodigy in his youth, sparred with the brothers, and fought alongside them in war. 35

Before Konoha’s founding, he accompanied Izuna while escorting supplies and was severely wounded by Tobirama’s Lightning God Sword. The wound forced him to remove part of a lung. During the First Ninja World War, he was further injured fighting the future Third Raikage, losing part of his calf and requiring a spring-operated wooden prosthesis. Tobirama, despite their past enmity, intervened to save him during that battle. 34

His wartime injuries diminished his endurance, mobility, and explosive power, but his seniority, military merits, and control of clan rules gave him immense authority within the Uchiha. As Great Elder, he supervised education, inheritance, resource distribution, and discipline while serving as the Clan Head’s deputy for internal affairs. 34 50

After Madara’s departure, he concluded that the clan lacked a Kage-level protector and could not force Konoha’s leadership to grant status commensurate with Uchiha strength.
