Although the purpose of Merit Points had not been explained during the closed beta yet, they could not be traded and could only be earned through quests. Based on Lin Tang's guess, they were clearly some kind of points threshold. In the future, different Merit Point levels might earn different treatment from Calamity Base.
Those with high Merit Points might even get some official position in the future.
