Background / History
Lin Tang was among the early players exploring the Calamity Base’s virtual-reality wasteland. He initially fought beside Demonic Fox and Thin Dog, reacting with equal parts excitement and alarm to the game’s lethal realism; during an early encounter with a mutated hyena, he defended himself with a crowbar. 7 19 After being injured, he temporarily received Cheng Shaofeng’s Copper Ring of Radiation, whose life-recovery effect allowed him to recover faster. 22
As the Peak Squad developed, Lin Tang established himself as its specialist in explosive traps and energy damage. He prioritized Storm Magic Box as his early-game damage source, built Intelligence for greater Energy recovery and damage, and became known for evaluating combat mechanics through the mindset of a mod designer. 154 175 His traps and Explosive Rounds made him the top damage dealer in a major battle against hostile Transcendents, earning him the title Damage Overload. 140
His explosive approach carries substantial friendly-fire risk. While fighting Void Spirits, Lin Tang detonated a max-level Storm Magic Box amid illusion-trapped allies, badly electrocuting them but also forcibly breaking the illusion; Inquisitors then used the opening to clear more than thirty Void Spirits. 166 He later adapted his build to compensate for the box’s slow setup and poor close-range utility, acquiring Wind Walker, investing in fire damage, and choosing Demolition as his second specialization. 190 260 261
After becoming a Purifier, Lin Tang served as the Peak Squad’s captain on battlefield and expansion operations. He led resource gathering and branch-base construction, upgraded his weapon to a Divine Artifact alongside Thin Dog, and coordinated attacks against Fourth-Order mechanical monsters around Titan City. 366 385 402
While investigating a glowing two-dimensional rift, Lin Tang was forcibly pulled into another world. He cleared the Ghost Trial Ground, obtained powerful card-world rewards, and emerged in a technologically advanced society built around Card Masters. 526 528 Unable to log out, he attempted to quietly gather strength toward Fifth-Order until the God-tier Card Master Xu Lin confronted him. Lin Tang accepted Xu Lin’s research arrangement in exchange for safe passage and cards, but the Peak Squad judged the situation too dangerous and entered the card world to support him. 529 531 532 534
Personality
Lin Tang is enthusiastic, theatrical, and highly competitive. He enjoys dramatic declarations, calls himself the team’s greatest mod designer, and openly values powerful builds, rare skills, and high damage numbers. 260 397 His confidence can become overconfidence—particularly when he assumes an unfamiliar area is beneath his level—but he recalibrates quickly when faced with genuinely stronger opponents. 528 529 531
Despite his showmanship, he is a capable analyst and coordinator. He studies damage calculations, class roles, resistances, and team composition, and his teammates acknowledge that his unusual builds can be practically effective. 97 265 347 397 He also values immersion, deliberately leaving some pain sensation enabled on the snow mountain so the environment feels real. 265
Abilities & Skills
Storm Magic Box
Lin Tang’s signature Inquisitor skill creates rune-carved lightning traps that detonate for heavy area damage. It is his principal early-game offensive tool and remained central to his build after reaching max level. 154 161
- Dealt the highest damage in a major battle at level 8, earning Lin Tang the Damage Overload title. 140
- Can break illusions through overwhelming lightning damage, as demonstrated during the Void Spirit incident. 166
- Can harm allies and summons caught in its blast radius. 166 175
- Requires setup time and is poorly suited to sudden close-range attacks. 175 190
Explosive Rounds and Firearms
Lin Tang uses enchanted ammunition and firearms to supplement his trap damage, particularly when opponents survive or trigger his prepared boxes. 107 140
- Used Storm Magic Boxes and Explosive Rounds together during the defense against Raider Elite camps. 107
- His level 10 Explosive Rounds killed three enemies in the battle that earned his title. 140
- Maintains firearms carefully in extreme cold, where frozen weapons can malfunction. 265
Purifier / Demolition Firepower
After choosing Demolition as a second specialization, Lin Tang transferred to the Purifier class and expanded from lightning traps into fire-based support and explosive attacks. 260 261
- Maxed Flame Infusion immediately after his transfer. 260
- His role combines traps, ranged suppression, and ice/fire damage. 397
- His flame enhancement substantially amplifies allied fire damage. 266
- Demolition improves both his trap methods and his fire/electric damage output. 261
Wind Walker
Wind Walker is Lin Tang’s primary escape and repositioning skill. He uses it when traps cannot be deployed safely in close quarters. 190
- Allows rapid evasion when enemies ambush the squad at close range. 190
- In the card world, his highly enhanced Wind Walker lets him burst to roughly five times normal speed. 531
- Its maximum-speed burst lasts only about one minute before fading. 531
Defensive Build and Resistances
Lin Tang supplements his offense with unusually high elemental resistance and reactive defenses. 265 529
- Stacked ice resistance to the 80% cap through Frozen Heart inlays, equipment, relic effects, and level-based resistance bonuses. 265
- His armor and relic-based passive counterattack allowed him to withstand restraining card techniques from Dawn Group security personnel. 529
- Designed a retaliatory build focused on external vine damage, internal flame damage, self-defense, and pursuit. 347
Card-World Rewards
During the Ghost Trial Ground, Lin Tang demonstrated that his existing combat power vastly exceeded the trial’s undead opponents. 528
- Uses Blank Material Cards to store harvested materials, including powdered Yin Spirit Bone. 528
- One-shot a Tier 3 bone-dragon boss and obtained it as a Tier 5 summon card. 528
- Received the Epic Level 5 Field Card: Yin Spirit Tower for becoming the first person to clear the Adventurer’s Trial Ground. 528
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Rifle, Revolver, and Shield — awarded by Cheng Shaofeng for Lin Tang’s outstanding battle contribution. 140
- Revolver — later described as a Divine Artifact carrying a large amount of his Judgment value. 529
- Divine Artifact weapon — upgraded alongside Thin Dog before the Shrine Ruins offensive. 385
- Epic back prosthetic limb — mechanical wings that grant flight capability. 402
- Frozen Heart inlays — equipped across two rings and a necklace to build ice resistance. 265
- Copper Ring of Radiation — temporarily lent by Cheng Shaofeng to accelerate Lin Tang’s recovery after an early injury. 22
Relationships
- Thin Dog — Peak Squad teammate and close combat counterpart; they jointly upgraded their weapons to Divine Artifacts and later entered the card world together. 385 532
- Demonic Fox — Peak Squad teammate and frequent build adviser; she helped determine that Demolition best suited Lin Tang’s role. 261 532
- Babu — teammate who entered Lin Tang’s dream to locate him and maintained communication between him and the outside world. 526 531 532
- Cheng Shaofeng — Lord of Calamity Base; lent Lin Tang recovery equipment early on and later rewarded his battle performance. 22 140
- Huang Hao — Titan City contact who provided locations of dangerous mechanical monsters after Lin Tang’s team assisted against local threats. 402
- Professor Zhao Zhengan — card-world researcher who supplied Lin Tang with a list of criminals in Light Valley City for experience-gathering. 529
- Xu Lin — God-tier Card Master who cornered Lin Tang, then offered a research-for-safe-passage arrangement; later became a coerced guide for the Peak Squad. 531 534
