Background and History

Cheng Shaofeng survives an ambush by Zhang San and Luo Wu after Wang Qian and Wang Wan intervene. Discovering that he was poisoned, he has the pair track him; after defeating his attackers, he processes their bodies as raw material for the [Clone Production Pod] rather than wasting scarce resources on immediate new summons 14.

He later tells Wu Jie that he is the inheritor of the Calamity Base, having awakened those memories shortly before leaving Salt Well Town. He presents the Base’s dormant “warriors”—the players—as future powerhouses of the wasteland 68. He personally screens prospective players, favoring candidates with specialized real-world skills such as retired soldiers and martial artists 112.

As the Base grows, Cheng Shaofeng turns threats into infrastructure. He captures twelve ghoul infiltrators from Shelter 303 and retains them as a controlled energy source, assigning Aton to oversee them 126. After relocating through Huo Town, he moves the Calamity Base into Red City, where its residents gain secure housing, water, heating, and power 163 253.

His influence expands beyond Red City through trade, political arrangements, and branch operations. He establishes a Center City shop selling Calamity Base equipment and later takes control of Colossus City after the Astrologer retreats 309 322. Cheng Shaofeng is cautious, survival-driven, and unwilling to gamble his life for uncertain rewards.
