Background / History
Thin Dog first appeared during the escape from a Raider camp. He fought alongside a mysterious skeleton, rescued Cheng Shaofeng, then returned to retrieve Radiated Material despite the danger and died from the attempt. The material later supplied enough energy for Cheng to establish the Calamity Base in Four Mountains, earning Thin Dog major credit from the Base Lord 5 6.
As an early player, he focused heavily on equipment optimization. He inlaid Boiling Blood into a Copper Ring of Resistance, gaining radiation resistance, health regeneration, physical-damage bonuses, and Attack Capability. By continuing to stack accessories, he reached the accessory cap for Boiling Blood bonuses and became the most experienced member of his early group 23 36 49.
He proposed forming a squad with four veteran forum players. Although his suggested name, “Thin Dog Squad,” was rejected, the group became Peak Squad. The team later grew into one of the Calamity Base’s strongest player groups, with Thin Dog acting as its primary melee fighter and frequent real-time commander 58 191.
After developing as a Barbarian, Thin Dog built around dual-wielding, uninterrupted attacks, mobility, and survivability. He later added the Night Blade specialization to intensify his burst damage and expand his dual-blade techniques 161 175 261.
At Level 50, Thin Dog tested Ancestral Summoning on behalf of other Barbarian players. The talent repeatedly summoned the Nether God’s phantom, eventually leaving Thin Dog with a black-lotus mark and a coercive contract connected to the imprisoned deity 380 521. He subsequently used the phantom’s power against Void Spirits and to help Peak Squad subdue the Nine-Tailed Fox during their journey through the Void Exile Zone 389 522.
Personality
Thin Dog is highly competitive, enthusiastic about progression, and openly enjoys showing off exceptional gear, levels, and combat results. He is also intensely curious about game systems, frequently records discoveries, shares skill information, and produces strategy guides for other players 215 225 269 426.
Despite his confidence, he is a practical team player. He adapts plans when enemies exceed Peak Squad’s capabilities, defers broader strategy to capable teammates such as Demonic Fox, and makes class decisions with the squad’s composition in mind 83 191 261. He also shows caution around unknown high-level threats, notably opposing Lin Tang’s more reckless approach in Center City 354.
Abilities & Skills
Dual-Wielding Barbarian Combat
Thin Dog specializes in close-range physical damage with paired Tang Daos. His combat style emphasizes maintaining attack momentum, exploiting enemy weak points, and surviving long enough to keep pressure on priority targets 161 176.
- Uses Dual Wield to fight effectively with two one-handed blades. 161 176
- Served as Peak Squad’s main single-target damage dealer and a frontline tank during earlier Barbarian progression. 161
- Can dodge attacks through high Attack Capability and Defense Capability, which sharpen his combat awareness and sixth sense. 27 191 240
- Uses Battle Roar, Leap Slash, Cleave, and Berserk Charge for control, mobility, area pressure, and rapid target switching. 161 176
Impact
Impact is Thin Dog’s primary damage engine. Consecutive attacks build stacks that greatly increase his damage, but the effect dissipates quickly if his attack chain is interrupted 241.
- Reached Level 16/16, with eight charge levels. 241
- At full stacks, each attack can deal 2.15 times normal damage. 241
- Used sustained chains to destroy bionic robots in close combat. 240 241
- Particularly suited to his preference for uninterrupted combos and aggressive melee pressure. 241
Barbarian Resilience
Thin Dog combines damage output with unusually high regeneration, armor, and resistance for a melee player 66 161.
- Barbarian Skin improves maximum health, Physical Resistance, and Radiation Resistance. 135 161
- A socketed jacket raised his health regeneration to 12 HP per second during his early Barbarian progression. 66
- Later reached more than 50 HP regeneration per second and 80% Flame Resistance through equipment and relic bonuses. 240
- Can remain in combat through repeated hits as long as stamina and food supplies hold out. 240
Night Blade Techniques
Thin Dog selected Night Blade as his second specialization to reinforce his aggressive dual-blade style with speed, burst damage, and more varied attack rhythms 261.
- Qi Burst — Core Night Blade technique that increases his speed and attack power; it can rapidly restore his condition during combat. 261 266
- Shear Slash — Brings both blades together like scissors, striking multiple enemies and potentially stunning them. 261
- Phantom Slash — Delivers three rapid hits in roughly one second for high burst damage. 261 275
- Nightfall Descent — His second Night Blade talent, available after Level 60; it complements Ancestral Summoning with stealth-oriented engagement options. 508
Ancestral Summoning
Thin Dog’s Level 50 Barbarian talent randomly summons the phantoms of three creators of Barbarian inherited skills. Their strength scales with Thin Dog’s own attributes 380.
- Can summon three skill-founder phantoms to assist in combat or other problems. 380
- The Nether God’s phantom became a recurring summon after Thin Dog became a Fourth-Order Barbarian. 521
- Used the talent to counter Shadow Void Spirits and to contact the Nether God for Colonel Chu’s investigation. 389 416
- The Nether God’s phantom crushed the Nine-Tailed Fox’s three domains, enabling Peak Squad to capture it. 522
- The associated black-lotus mark exerts pressure on Thin Dog to fulfill his contract, though he can suppress its summons. 521
Tactical Command and Research
Thin Dog combines frontline awareness with extensive system knowledge. He often turns battle observations into tactics, equipment advice, and public guides 27 191 269.
- Gives Peak Squad real-time commands while Demonic Fox handles broader strategic analysis. 191
- Identifies tracks, climbing marks, ambushes, and enemy weak points under pressure. 190 266
- Published Apocalypse OL: All Monster Attributes and Tactics, including illustrated monster entries and Raider footage. 269
- Catalogued the available Constellations and assigned them practical names for future player guides. 225
