Background

Naruto was born during the Nine-Tails’ attack on Konohagakure. After Obito released the beast during Kushina’s childbirth, Minato and Kushina sealed it inside their newborn son at the cost of their lives. Naruto consequently grew up ostracized by the village. 1

As a small child, Naruto was thin, poorly cared for, and internalized the villagers’ description of him as a “fox demon.” His first meeting with Josuke and Sasuke at Ichiraku Ramen gave him friends for the first time. 3
