Background / History

Josuke was originally Josuke Higashikata, a Chinese citizen who was transported into the Naruto world. Reborn as an Uchiha infant, he retained only fragmented knowledge of major future events and lacked any “system” or innate Six Paths-level power. He was born alongside Sasuke and grew up under the protection of the Uchiha clan. 1 69

As a child, he trained obsessively to avoid the fate awaiting his family. Itachi helped improve his shuriken technique, while Josuke became close with Sasuke, Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, and later Rock Lee. At age six, he entered the Ninja Academy with command of basic Fire Release and all five chakra natures. 2 4

Rock Lee introduced Josuke to Might Guy, who accepted him as a student. Josuke trained in the Eight Inner Gates, sparred regularly with Lee, and mastered the First Gate within a year. His intense training, however, contributed to Sasuke becoming increasingly withdrawn. 9 11

Josuke became a member of Team 7 and developed a bond with Ino. He planned from an early age to leave Konoha after the Third Hokage’s death, believing the village could not offer him enough power or security. 14 43

He accepted Orochimaru’s improved cursed mark and negotiated a three-year delay before joining him. Josuke eventually defected from Konoha, publicly insulting and fighting Naruto to make his departure convincing. Later, he revealed that Danzō had given him an ultimatum: join Root or have his eyes removed. 19 32 52

After operating under Orochimaru, Josuke joined Akatsuki as part of a deception arranged with Itachi. He betrayed the organization during the Three-Tails operation, fought Pain, and escaped with Little Three’s support. 61 69 70 74

Josuke returned to Orochimaru’s base intending to take leadership and later became Otogakure’s leader. He defended its interests against the Land of Rice’s feudal lord, though he disliked the administrative responsibilities of leadership. 74 78 81

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Josuke repeatedly fought Obito, Madara, the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and the Ten-Tails. He temporarily died after choosing to protect Ino from Black Zetsu’s Black Rods rather than pursue victory. Little Three subsequently took control of his body and manifested a Pseudo Ten-Tails state. 156 167 196 197

After the war, Josuke married Ino and became the father of Uchiha Genya. He later founded the Stardust Crusaders, an organization of reanimated shinobi dedicated to locating and eliminating Ōtsutsuki threats. 223 230

Personality

Josuke is strategic, adaptable, and highly conscious of the gap between his current power and the threats facing the ninja world. He repeatedly seeks stronger techniques, allies, and safeguards rather than relying solely on talent. 4 116

He often presents a joking, boastful, or nonsensical persona, but can become cold and intimidating when his family or allies are threatened. His irreverent humor contrasts sharply with his willingness to sacrifice himself for others, especially Ino, Sasuke, Jiraiya, and Little Three. 141 196 228

Although he initially became arrogant over his rapid growth, Josuke later recognizes this flaw and deliberately enters seclusion to train. 115 116

Appearance

Josuke is an Uchiha with a handsome appearance nearly identical to Sasuke’s. His appearance changes visibly when using higher transformations.
