History

Foundation and Whitebeard Protection

The Sokachio Clan built its position through martial strength, eventually establishing a kingdom capable of defeating pirates worth hundreds of millions in bounty. The Four Emperors nevertheless made independent survival in the New World untenable, leading Ekmondo to fly Whitebeard's flag and pay for his protection. 1 3

Umit targeted the kingdom's coffee plantations but avoided a direct attack because of Whitebeard's protection. Instead, he manipulated the neighboring Amento Kingdom—also nominally under Whitebeard's flag—into declaring war. 1 5

Amento War and Retaliation

Amento forces captured Whale Head and Whale Belly Islands before advancing on Whale Tail Island. Crown Prince Aleus led the defense, defeated the invading fleet and Umit's concealed assets, then restored the entire Toothed Whale Sea Area to Ekmondo control. 3 15 18

The kingdom deliberately leaked evidence of Umit's scheme after purchasing intelligence at great expense, exposing his involvement across the New World. 16 18 Aleus subsequently directed operations against Umit-linked shipping companies, beginning with the Dallama Kingdom Shipping Company. 18

Rise as a New World Power

Following Aleus's rise, the kingdom ceased being merely a territory dominated by larger forces and became recognized as one of the New World's rulers. 58 Whitebeard later agreed to end his pirates' protection over the kingdom at Aleus's request, formalizing Ekmondo's independence. 50

The kingdom expanded overseas, with Eschbach declaring one conquered city and island its Fifty-first Overseas Territory. 58 Its increasingly dominant shipping network later provoked both the Beasts Pirates and the BIG·MOM Pirates. 113 114
