The vortex burst apart and Yuanfeng emerged as a Late Quasi-Sage, leaving the gathered factions stunned and wary.

  • An immense vortex of yin-yang qi and five-element qi appeared above the Undying Volcano, drawing cultivators from across the Primordial Wilderness who expected an innate supreme treasure.
  • Dijun, Taiyi, Kunpeng, the Three Pure Ones, Xuande and the western trio, Zhenyuanzi, Hong Yun, Nuwa, Fuxi, West Queen Mother, and Minghe traveled to the volcano, while King Father of the East chose to stay behind.
  • Xuande, Nuwa, and Zhenyuanzi sensed life within the vortex, and Fuxi failed to divine what it concealed.
  • After years of waiting, the vortex slowed and released an overwhelming pressure that forced the gathered Quasi-Saints to defend themselves.
  • The Undying Volcano erupted, the vortex shattered, and a woman in seven-colored robes rose from the crater as a Late Quasi-Sage.
  • Xuande recognized the woman as Yuanfeng, who had been suppressing the Undying Volcano, while the other mighty figures reacted with shock and caution.

Ch. 128Yuanfeng's Plan: Kong Xuan and Yun Cheng Choose Their Masters

Yuanfeng revealed that the disturbance at the Undying Volcano came from her children, Kong Xuan and the Golden-Winged Great Peng, taking form, and invited the gathered cultivators to become their masters. Kong Xuan chose Xuande and the Golden-Winged Great Peng chose Laozi, who named him Yun Cheng; the brothers then departed for the West and Kunlun Mountain with their masters.

  • Zhao Gongming and the Three Cloud Sisters thanked Xuande for saving them and asked him to accept them as disciples.
  • Xuande praised their aptitudes but explained that their Wind and Cloud Dao origins suited Hongyun better than his own cultivation.
  • Xuande created a golden auspicious cloud and carried the four toward Wuzhuang Temple, teaching them about the Primordial Wilderness along the way.
  • At Wuzhuang Temple, Hongyun sensed that the newcomers were strongly fated to meet him and urged Zhenyuanzi to welcome them.

  • Xuande proposed developing a Western cultivation method based on the Mystic Gate and their own insights, and Jieyin and Zhunti agreed to derive it with him.

Ch. 135Western Wondrous Method

Xuande, Jieyin, and Zhunti devised the Seven Emotions and Six Desires method as a path to Quasi-Sainthood that required no Innate Spiritual Treasures. They announced the method from Mount Sumeru and invited cultivators to become their disciples, drawing attention and skepticism across the Primordial Wilderness.

  • Xuande proposed replacing the treasure-dependent Slaying Three Corpses method with severing the seven emotions and six desires, and Jieyin and Zhunti helped define its five cultivation realms.
  • The three agreed that their method could lead cultivators as far as Mid-Quasi-Saint but could not provide a path to Late Quasi-Sage or Sagehood.
  • Xuande, Jieyin, and Zhunti chose to accept disciples and spread the method before establishing a separate sect, avoiding direct conflict with the Dao Ancestor.
  • Three days later, the three proclaimed from Mount Sumeru that their methods could lead to Quasi-Sainthood without Innate Spiritual Treasures and invited suitable cultivators to study under them.
  • Countless cultivators heard the proclamation, and some independent cultivators debated whether it was credible before considering traveling west to investigate.

Ch. 136Reactions Across the Primordial Wilderness

The West’s announcement of a method to reach the Quasi-Saint realm without an Innate Spiritual Treasure drew cultivators and envoys from across the Primordial Wilderness toward Mount Sumeru. After Xuande refined and distributed the tokens, they strengthened the disciples’ defenses, communication, and accountability, and Ksitigarbha received an invitation from Wuzhen to visit the Tea Garden.

  • Xuande, Jieyin, and Zhunti discussed their disciples’ abilities and resolved to build the West’s strength gradually, while their disciples settled into cultivation across Mount Sumeru and the Three Immortal Islands.
  • Xuande proposed registering every disciple and refining tokens for identification, protection, recordkeeping, and communication, and Jieyin and Zhunti supplied Innate Spiritual Materials.
  • Xuande used the Creation Cauldron and its Return to Origin power to refine three Master Tokens and hundreds of Disciple Tokens over hundreds of years.
  • Xuande distributed the tokens to the direct and registered disciples and explained their defensive, recording, merit, and communication functions.
  • The disciples began using their tokens to exchange messages and study their contents, and Ksitigarbha received Wuzhen’s invitation to try new tea at the Tea Garden.

Ch. 141Heavenly Court and Immortal Court's Response

Bai Ze reported the Western Wondrous Dharma to Dijun, who ordered an experiment with Demon Clan cultivators, while King Father of the East began teaching it within the Immortal Court. Ch. 142Fuxi's Change and the Shangqing Immortal Method's Eight-Nine Arcane Art

Dijun failed to recruit Nuwa and Fuxi into the Demon Clan, and Fuxi chose to pursue his own Deduction Dao. Tongtian created and announced the Shangqing Immortal Method and Eight-Nine Arcane Art, inviting cultivators to Kunlun Mountain to become his disciples.

  • Dijun offered Nuwa and Fuxi equal standing with himself and a share of the Demon Race Fortune, but both refused to join the Demon Clan.
  • Fuxi told Nuwa that the three from the West had inspired him to systematize his Deduction Dao, and he entered seclusion to create an Eight Trigrams Deduction Method.
  • Tongtian told Laozi and Yuanshi that he would create the Shangqing Immortal Method and the Eight-Nine Arcane Art, then entered seclusion on Kunlun Mountain.
  • Tongtian developed the methods, combining the Dao Ancestor's Method of Severing the Three Corpses with Shangqing killing intent and a nine-turn path of physical cultivation.
  • Tongtian completed the methods through the Quasi-Saint realm and announced across the Primordial Wilderness that cultivators with a fated connection could come to Kunlun Mountain to seek his tutelage.

Ch. 143The Later Heaven Eight Trigrams and Western Treasury Coins

Ch. 148The Western Trio Confronts Kunpeng and Taiyi

Kunpeng failed to persuade Ancestral Dragon to submit the Dragon Clan to the Heavenly Court, so Taiyi and Kunpeng led a demon army to the East Sea. Xuande, Jieyin, and Zhunti arrived to defend the Dragon Clan, and the two sides ended in a tense standoff.

  • Kunpeng offered Ancestral Dragon a Dragon Emperor's Position if the Dragon Clan joined the Demon Clan, but Ancestral Dragon refused to become anyone's vassal.
  • Ancestral Dragon sent Ao Yuan to Mount Sumeru to ask Xuande for aid, while Kunpeng reported the refusal to Dijun.
  • Dijun ordered Taiyi and Kunpeng to lead five Demon Marshals and demon soldiers against the Dragon Clan, prompting factions across the Primordial Wilderness to watch the campaign.
  • Xuande, Jieyin, and Zhunti agreed to help the Dragon Clan because of their ties to Ancestral Dragon and Northern Mystery, then traveled with Ao Yuan to the East Sea.
  • Taiyi demanded the Dragon Clan's submission, but Ancestral Dragon refused and warned that he could drag the demon army into the abyss if they attacked.

  • Taiyi and Kunpeng returned to the Heavenly Court and reported that the King Father of the East’s self-detonation had killed thirty percent of the Demon Soldiers and wounded every Demon Marshal.
  • Dijun rejected Kunpeng’s attempt to blame the Western trio, ordered proper burials and care for the fallen and wounded, and reassured them that the Dao Ancestor would not punish the Demon Clan.
  • After Taiyi and Kunpeng left, Dijun worried that Jieyin, Zhunti, and Xuande’s actions signaled the West’s rise and resolved to reassess the balance of power.
  • On Kunlun Mountain, Tongtian expounded the Shangqing Dao to more than ten thousand disciples gathered before Biyou Palace.
  • Tongtian’s renowned disciples included Daoist Duobao, Golden Spirit Holy Mother, Wudang Holy Mother, Turtle Spirit Holy Mother, and several transformed spirits and beasts.
