Background and History
Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju led their clans in founding Konohagakure. The Uchiha settled in the village center, where their large compound and control of the Police Force gave them a prominent public position but kept them away from Konoha's central leadership 50 157 240. When Madara later left the village, no Uchiha followed him. His departure damaged the clan's standing and left gaps in its records of the Sharingan 219 259.
The clan remains one of Konoha's two great noble clans alongside the Hyūga. Its influence extends beyond blood relatives to families long affiliated with the Uchiha faction 189 193. During the Third Shinobi World War, Fugaku leads its deployed contingent, with Yoshinari among its notable fighters 189.
Clan leadership is divided between its head and influential elders. When Obito leaves his awakened Sharingan to Kakashi Hatake, the elders want the eye returned, but Fugaku supports Kakashi keeping it. He sees cooperation with Toneri and Minato as a way to regain authority from the elders 238. After Toneri becomes Hokage, the elders seek influence through his disciple Shisui; Shisui tells Toneri of their plan 274. Fugaku subsequently cooperates with Toneri against the elders 275.
The Nine-Tails' attack damages the clan's central compound. Toneri promises to publicize the Uchiha's contributions during the crisis and requests ten clan members with awakened Sharingan for Konoha's expanding Anbu. Fugaku agrees 301.
Abilities and Skills
Sharingan
The Sharingan is the clan's bloodline eye technique, but not every Uchiha awakens it. Members who do are valuable to the clan, which has struggled to identify a reliable method of awakening it 53.

- Evolution can increase the user's chakra; the three-tomoe form strengthens dynamic observation and genjutsu 130 316.
