Nature and Origin

Cursed Energy is a collection of negative energy within humans. Most people possess it but cannot sense or control it; those who can wield it are known as Jujutsu Sorcerers. 2

Uncontrolled Cursed Energy leaks from non-sorcerers and accumulates into Cursed Spirits. Sorcerers circulate their energy internally and leak very little, making widespread Cursed Energy control one proposed way to prevent new Cursed Spirits from being born. 14

Cursed Energy is also the basis of the divide between Jujutsu Sorcerers and Curse Users. Curse Users are sorcerers who employ their power for crimes, terrorism, or other acts against ordinary society. 2

Interaction with Heavenly Restriction and Bloodline Power

Shinsuke Zenin and Toji Zenin are identified as the only known humans with absolutely no Cursed Energy. Their Heavenly Restriction grants extreme physical strength, heightened senses, and resistance to Cursed Energy in exchange. 1 2

When Yuki Tsukumo injects Cursed Energy into Shinsuke, his body violently rejects it and expels it through a burst of heat. 2
